Greased Lightening vs Spray N' Wash: Which is Better for Pretreating Your Laundry?

Wendy King
I have been an avid Spray N' Wash fan for a number of years. My best friend introduced it to me when my son was born to get food stains out of his clothes. It has always worked well, getting most stains out. I have always been very satisfied with the results I have gotten from Spray N' Wash.

That was until a few weeks ago. We don't have washers and dryers in the apartments I live in, so I was at my best friends house doing some laundry. I had mistakenly left my bottle of Spray N' Wash at home, so I asked to borrow some of hers. She told me that she had run out of Spray N' Wash and didn't have anything else. I looked at my daughter's food stained clothes, contemplating if I should go to the store and buy some or wait until another day to do her laundry.

My best friend's husband, hearing my dilemma, handed me a bottle of Greased Lightening and said "Here, try this". My best friend and I immediately began to reject the suggestion of using such a strong product on my daughters clothes. What if it took the color out? After he showed me on the bottle that Greased Lightening could be used as a laundry pretreatment, I reluctantly tried it on my daughter's clothes. When her clothes finished washing, I nervously took them from the washer expecting them to be ruined. They weren't ruined. As a matter of fact, Greased Lightening took every stain out! It worked a lot better than Spray N' Wash.

After having such convincing results, as soon as I left their house, I immediately went out and bought my own bottle of Greased Lightening. It has been incredible to see how well this stuff works. It has become my all purpose cleaner of choice. Not only do I use it as a pre-treat for my laundry, but also to clean my kitchen, bathroom, and even to get stains out of the carpet.

There was only drawback that I have found with Greased Lightening. It has a strong chemical smell that may bother people with asthma or other breathing disorders. However, after some experimenting, I have found that I can dilute Greased Lightening and still have a fabulous everyday cleaner. I put 2 parts Greased Lightening to 8 parts water in a spray bottle. It has revolutionized the way I clean my house!

Make sure you are aware of the difference in grades of the product. For home use residential is good. If the stain needs strong power, I say, " Hand it over to a man, and he can use the commercial strength if he read the directions first, HA HA."

Greased Lightening is a well known product in the commercial industry area. You can purchase all that you need of this product by shopping at the hardware store on Millbranch road @ Brooks. Russells Hardware.

If you need a case we can order the case.
I use it to clean the bathroom as well to remove grease. Come on ladies, get with it and try some real Greased Lightening.

Hi and Welcome to AC Wendy. :-) I never did care for Spray N' Wash -- good to hear about alternatives. Though I'm hooked on my Awesome Brand cleaner.
