Great Additions to Your New Years Party Playlist!

Kate Schum
The best holiday of the year is a couple weeks away and New Years Eve means it's time to party! Don't worry, you aren't going to need to hire a DJ because you can do it yourself! This list should make everyone happy! The best thing to keep in mind is variation. You want to keep everyone dancing and you want to have songs to make memories to.

The first song that springs to mind is "It's the End of the World as we know it (and I feel fine)" by REM. When I envision the ball dropping, I picture people dancing around to it. This is especially great for those years when "the end of the world" is near. That and everyone knows all of the words to it! That and Michael Stipe wrote this song to make people smile!

The next song that comes to mind is something more current. Neyo's UK inspired "Closer" is a great way to get the ladies dancing! That and it is quite the love song, too! You can go fast and get slow, too! Another great couples song is "No Air" by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown. Everyone has so much fun with 90's dance songs too, like Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot.

For the people that enjoy something a little more alternative, or ska-esque but still dance-y definitely get Reel Big Fish's cover of Take On Me. It is more than worth it! The whole Girl Talk "Night Ripper" album is great just to play through because they are the most addictive songs that mix well known songs together to sound absolutely amazing. If you don't want to put the whole album at least put "Smash Your Head". That is my favorite Girl Talk song.

Beyonce's Single Ladies is a great song alone, but the Lil Scrappy mix is absolutely fantastic. Especially if you want to have a ladies night. It will definitely make them happy! T-Pain's "Church" is an amazing song. Ever since I saw it on So You Think You Can Dance I've been addicted to it. I put this on every party playlist.

The final two songs that would go great are Brass Monkey by the Beastie Boys and Bring the Pain by Method Man. These appeal to almost anyone growing up during the nineties and bring them back to a more memorable time. These songs are a great base, but you will also have to put a few of your favorites too! Have fun!
