Great Biking Gloves for Women

Cassie B. Adonoson
For female cyclists, it can be hard to find the right gear. It seems like everything is just a smaller version of the male equipment, or it's entirely in pink. For cycling, that's not necessarily helpful. I know when I started cycling, I wanted to find the right gloves, without spending a lot of money. You want to make sure they protect your hands on long rides, and if you fall. But you also want to make sure they breathe, and keep the cold and wind out. Here's a look at some of the top biking gloves for women.

Fox Racing Women's Reflex Gel Fingerless Bike Gloves

These gloves are designed specifically for mountain bikers. They have shock absorbers when you hit a bumpy trail. If you happen to take a fall, these will help protect your hands. They are available at www.amazon.com for around $25.

Pearl Izumi Select Gloves

Pearl Izumi makes great gloves. The Select gloves offer sun protection, padding, and ventilation for those long rides. They come in the standard black, but you can also get them in blue if you desire. They can be found at www.llbean.com for about $22.

Louis Garneau Women's Biogel RX Bike Gloves 2010

The Biogel gloves are some of the best you can get for a low price, around $20. They feature a moisture wicking system so you can head out on those long rides. The gloves have varying thickness of the gel pads. This decreases the pressure on your ulnar and median nerves so you don't feel so much road vibration and your hands don't fatigue as quickly. If you want these gloves, head to www.onetri.com. I think they even come in pink!

Canari Women's Fusion Cycling Gloves

For the price of about $10, you can't really beat these gloves. They have a spherical palm and a slip on design. The gloves have palm vents, foam pads, a terry cloth brow wipe and a contoured wrist closure. These will be great for long rides and won't cost you a lot of money in the meantime.

Gore Women's Countdown Summer Bike Gloves

These gloves are a little expensive, around $40. But you get a lot for the money. They have foam padding, an inner forehand with foam protection, ventilation and a terry insert to wipe away perspiration. The gloves will last, and have everything you need. Check out Eastern Mountain Sports at www.ems.com to find these gloves.
