Great Birthday Ideas for Two Year Old Girls

Match Gift to Your Little Girl

Great gifts for two year old girls can include anything from clothing to a variety of toys. Little girls already may have favorite colors and favorite video characters. And they often want to carry a purse.

Small riding toys are great for two year olds. If winter is coming on and they'll begin riding them inside, look for plastic riding toys which possibly can be ridden in your home. You need do no more than look at Walmart, Target or maybe you'll be lucky at the neighborhood garage sale.

Build-A-Bear animals are so soft and cuddly. All toddlers - and bigger kids too - love them dearly. You could take your little girl to pick out her own animal and outfit. Another idea is to purchase an animal you are sure she'll love and then let her go back and choose clothing for her treasure.

Some two year olds already have favorite sports teams. If your household goes to games, your toddler may love a cheer leading outfit or a special t-shirt that shows off her team spirit.

Many little girls love dance. Dance outfits, t-shirts and a whole realm of goodies are available for her. If she is already in a dance class, they may prefer her to have special shoes or outfits. You can make her day with a little pair of ballet slippers.

Perhaps your birthday girl is ready for "her big bed." Of course her entire birthday gift shouldn't be her new bedroom, but a new comforter and sheets for her new bed could help her stay put at night.

This is also potty training time. Pretty little panties or those of her favorite video character or her favorite color may help her want to stay dry. This is the time to buy several - many come in packages that include several pairs.

Two year olds are beginning to want craft items. What do the projects she brings home from day care show that she is learning to do. Pieces must be large enough for little hands. Stickers, colored paper, glue sticks, blunt-end scissors and even an easel of her own for painting are great choices.

Encourage toddlers to love to read by supplying them with a variety of age appropriate books. You may want to give one special book or a group of several different types including picture books and books that may be read to them.

Most every child would love anything electronic - even at a very young age. Videos, Wii games, and whatever works with what they or even an older sibling may already have.

Include gift receipts with whatever you choose. Sometimes grandparents, older siblings, aunts and uncles and friends have the same ideas. Even young children often love to shop.

A fun thing to do is always go out for ice cream or pizza or some local attraction that helps kids have the best birthday ever. Use common sense for age appropriate celebrations.

Two year olds are about "me." They really don't enjoy other kids sharing their new things or grabbing them or helping them open their gifts. Be mindful that kid parties are fun, but toddler parties should be very small if at all possible.

Gifts do not have to be expensive to be great hits for your birthday girl. Just be sure she has a special day and that the attention is directed towards her.

[I did not give any special on-line links for shopping because many items for this age of child can easily be picked up anywhere from dollar stores to exclusive boutiques.]

Have fun!

  • Two year olds already have ideas of what they want.
  • They often have favorite colors and favorite character friends.
  • You don't need to break the budget to make them happy.
Truly think about the two year old for whom you are buying the gift. What does she love to do and what things are her favorites. Does she have something she really wants or does she need to be encouraged?
