Great Breakfast Tips for Outdoor Independent Film Productions

Nicole A.
The following breakfast tips are great for filmmakers who are shooting outdoor in a remote location. They do not require additional appliances or preparation.

Muffins and Danishes are good because they do not have to be refrigerated or heated. They can be picked up at the local bakery prior to the first day of production. Muffins come in a variety of flavors such as corn, banana bread, blueberry and multigrain. It is important to get various flavors to ensure that everyone on the cast and crew will be able to get something that they like. The same concept goes for Danishes as well. They should be purchased in a variety of flavors as well. Danishes come in apple, cherry, cheese and lemon.

They are offered in different sizes as well. This provides the option of choosing regular sized Danishes or bite sized pastries. Either size will do as long as there is more than one flavor. Providing various flavors will help to cut down on the risk off someone having an allergic reaction. The director of photography should not have to starve because there are only corn muffins available on set, which he is allergic to.

Orange Juice, apple juice and water are great beverage choices for an outdoor film production. Much like muffins and Danishes, these beverages do not have to be refrigerated or heated. Although many people prefer cold beverages, they will drink water that is not cold as opposed to a cup of warm Pepsi. Filmmakers can provide a cooler containing ice if desired. The ice may not last all day long, but it will offer cast and crew members a chance to have cold breakfast beverages.

There may be individuals on the cast and crew who are in dire need of caffeine. If this is the case, a filmmaker can also provide iced tea at his or her discretion. Iced Tea can also be a cool additional selection for the rest of the cast and crew. Many stores offer $0.99 bottles of Nestea and Brisk iced tea. Some people spread butter on their breakfast muffins. In this case, butter is an extra that should be included in the breakfast selections. Filmmakers must also pick up other extras such as napkins and Styrofoam or plastic plates, cups and utensils. It is important to include some form of antibacterial gel or moist towelettes. These items are essential for sanitary and cleanup purposes.

These breakfast tips will increase the chances for a happy cast and crew during production. They offer a less expensive way to feed the people involved in the independent filmmaking process. They are nutritious and may last for at least two days.
