Great Cardio Exercises for Losing Weight and Staying Healthy

Jason Ward
If you are one of those people like myself who occasionally have that extra unwanted pound or two hanging around your body, or even if you have a weaker heart and would like to get it on track then this article is a perfect guide for you. I have gotten together a list of different cardio workouts that I do or have done and given a small summary on each one to make it simpler for you to find out which one is best for you.

Hope it helps.

Running/Jogging

This is one of the most famous cardio exercise, and can be done outdoors or indoors on a treadmill. The speed that you run varies by the individual but I would say a good average speed is about 5 or 6 mph. Some people complain that it gets boring running indoors, so it is always nice to have a balance between indoors and out. A con to running is that in the long run if you do it on concrete your knees could give you some bad problems when you get older, but of course this is not always the case. A solid cardio exercise that should at least be tested to see if you like it, but don't be disheartened if at first you can't go for very long but as time goes on you will progress.

Cycling

Like running it is also an indoors or outdoors sport, although a lot of people prefer riding outdoors as it more refreshing. The speed you ride at can vary, but the faster you go the more workout you get. This is a great cardio workout if you do it every day for a long time, as you don't really see quick results if you are looking to lose weight. I advise you go for about an hour a day, and even more if you feel up to it as it is a lot easier to do than jogging.

Rowing

The most popular way of rowing is at a gym on one of the rowing machines but if you want you can also go do the real thing on a kayak. Rowing is a really good full body workout and it will work out your arms, chest, abs, and core. The speed and amount of time spent doing it really depends on you, but of course like most things "The more the better".

Taebo

Taebo is a superb cardio body workout that you can find at most fitness centers and boxing gyms. Taebo became famous when it was brought to videos by Billy Blanks who invented it, and these videos are still very easy to find and great to use if you would prefer to work out from the warmth of your home. But be prepared for some heavy duty work that will wipe you out if you are not used to vigorous exercise.

Tennis

Tennis is by far one of my favorite sports that I always recommend for one of the best workouts. You will need a partner to play and if you haven't played before it is beneficial to take at least a couple lessons. Once you get good and start really playing I guarantee you that you will fall in love with the game. Another good thing about tennis is that is a very bonding sport that you can play with people you want to talk with or spend time with at the same time as exercising.
