Great Christmas Traditions You Can Enjoy with Your Family Growing Up

Christmas traditions that everyone can enjoy with family while growing up can be from a simple gift giving to preparing a large meal for a large family.

People will carry on traditions for years and years as they grow up with special traditions their family have practice though out the years.

What are some great Christmas traditions you enjoyed with your family growing up?

With large families, some traditions would be to draw names at Thanksgiving to share gifts with each other. They will put names, including children in a hat and pass around as someone will be responsible to write down the names. Each person then will buy a gift for that family member.

Families have traditions of special meals that will be prepared. Some will make the whole dinner including the holiday sweets. While others will share as each family brings a dish to pass.

Taste of the special holiday sweets are sure a tradition with most families. Some will make sweets and share with other families while others will gather and have a Christmas baking day and share found memories of Christmas past and present.

Christmas is the time when special treats are make which usually ends up that Grandma use to make. Some of the recipes are carried down from past family members of years ago.

Decorating of the Christmas tree is another Christmas tradition that has been handed down for years. Families will gather celebrating with hot coco, Christmas cookies and sweets, listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree.

Families will gather on Christmas Eve for a special dinner or just to start the Christmas celebration. Some will go to Grandmother's house Christmas Eve for opening of presents while others will stay home and prepare the arrival of Santa Claus.

Parents help in making special cookies or treats for Santa Claus and the reindeer. Children making special hot chocolate for Santa to enjoy, as he places presents under the tree.

Many families have a tradition of going through the neighborhood sing carols of the season. While others will go to nursing homes, hospitals, and elderly friends and families sing carols of old and new.

Families will have a Christmas tradition where a family member will take the children shopping for other family members. While shopping a visit with Santa will be on the list.

No matter what the Christmas tradition both young and old will enjoy the season with celebration and excitement.
