Great Concerts Coming to Omaha and Council Bluffs

Whether you're a country, pop, alternative or another type of music fan, the upcoming concert season will get your feet tapping and your body moving. There are many different performers on tour right now and locals of Nebraska will be able to take advantage of their performances.

The following is a list of bands that will be coming to Omaha and the Council Bluffs area this month.

1. On May 14th at 4:30 pm "Skillet" will be performing at the "Westfair Amphitheater" located in Council Bluffs. "Skillet" is a Grammy nominated alternative band that has roots in Christianity. They also have scored three "Top 40 Singles" on "Billboard's Mainstream Rock Charts." For tickets go to www.ticketmaster.com or visit the band on line at www.skillet.com.

2. "Mastodon" was formed in 2000 and comes from Atlanta. They play heavy metal rock and have a large following. "Mastodon" will be performing on May 15th at 7:00 pm at the "Sokol Auditorium" located at 2234 South 13th Street in Omaha. Visit them on line at www.mastodonrocks.com to purchase tickets.

3. On May 14th and 15th at 8:00 pm the "Omaha Symphony" will be performing "Beethoven's Fifth." This concert will take place at "The Holland Center" located at 1200 Douglas Street in downtown Omaha; Tomas Wilkins will be conducting and tickets can be purchased on line at www.omahasymphony.org.

4. "NeedToBreathe" was formed in 1999 and reached #20 on the "Billboard 200." They originated from Possum Kingdom, South Carolina and were influenced by great bands such as "U2," "Tom Petty," and "Pearl Jam." On May 14th they will be performing at "The Slowdown" located at 729 North 14th Street in Omaha. Purchase tickets at www.theslowdown.com or visit them on line at www.needtobreathe.net.

5. Formed in 1986, "The Goo Goo Dolls" released their single "Iris" which stayed on the "Billboard Charts" for almost a year and was #1 for 18 weeks. They are scheduled to play on May 21st at 8:00 pm at "Stir Cove" located at 1 Harrah's Boulevard in Council Bluffs. 6. "Greg Allman" was the founder of "The Allman Brothers" and was inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame." He will be performing at "Harrah's Casino" in Council Bluffs on May 22nd at 8:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.harrahscouncilbluffs.com.

7. The "Qwest Center" located at 455 North 10th Street in downtown Omaha will be hosting "Nickelback" on May 25th at 6:15 pm. The band was nominated for a Grammy in the category of "Best Hard Rock Performance by a duo/group" for their single "Burn it to the ground." Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com. 8. On May 30th "Stir Cove" located at "Harrah's Casino Council Bluffs" will be hosting a performance by the "Multi-Grammy Winner" "Earth Wind and Fire."
