Things kicked off between Morris Park Devils and the Astoria Knights. Morris Park would score a second period power play goal off Stephen Mele stick and edge the lightning 3-2.

Morris Park would move to 2-0 on the day with a win over the Green Machine on another big game from Mele putting up four of his teams six goals totaling five points in both winners.

Astoria Knights were facing elimination in their second match that would see over time but R. Alibrandi would only need 29 tics of the extra session to get his team into the next round. The Knights Mike McGreggor also had a big day with five points with four goals and an assist.

The Oilers would be trailing the Staten Island Green Machine 1-0 after one in an elimination game but the Brooklyn Oilers would get the wheels turning in the second. Scoring six unanswered goals in the final session from six different skaters they move onto the next round.

Trailing 5-1 with less than six minutes to go the Aeros were able to score with 5:34, again at 4:05, again at 2:00 and with their goalie pulled they tied the game with only four seconds left to send this game into OT. A crazy finish! After a scoreless extra session a shoot out was needed. Enter Scott Adelle. After making many big saves in regulation and OT he would be perfect in the shoot out stopping both Marine Park shooters and snatch this game from Marine Park. Marine Park won their earlier game four zip but will be facing elimination in their next match because they couldn't close this one out.

Aeros would do it again in their next match with another come from behind win against the BK Bullets. That game would also see an extra session. Trailing 3-1 with under eight minutes to go Jon Musco would rip a shot towards the goal that would deflect off of Billy Buckman's body to get his team within a goal. Just under a minute later Steve Noto would rip a wrist shot into mesh to knot the game a three. Regulation would end and as Phil Townsend of the Aeros would get the game winner in the shoot out in his pervious game he would do it again in this game putting the biscuit in the basket with a 4-3 OT win.

With the Aeros win they and Morris Park are the only two undefeated teams on the day. Aeros and Morris Park will go head to head next week.

With the Shooting Blanks facing elimination after a loss to Marine Park they were able to come up big against the Bombers. Up 3-0 the Bombers would make it a one goal game but the Blanks would pull away on an R. Conte breakaway goal and a Sammy Pontillo empty netter moving themselves into next week.

With the Bombers facing elimination in their next match they were able to come up big. Mike Profeta would light the lamp twice and Ralphie Bavaro would shut the door securing the shutout for a 3-0 Bombers win.

The last game of the night would be an elimination game between the Jaws and the BK Bullets as both teams were 0-1 heading into the match. After a 1-1 first the Bullets would turn it up in the final session. With D. Chringo sinking his second of the night Charles Sbragato would nail home two as it would add up to a 5-1 win and get the Bullets into next weekend.

Once again a great day of Hockey in the Bay! Three of the first four games next week will be elimination games. We started with 10 were down to 8, Winter Cup II continues next Saturday in the Bay, week two schedules will be posted shortly.
