This tri-state area in the Midwest has lots to offer. If you are looking for a fun day trip for the whole family, check out these hot spots for some summer fun! Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota hold many secret treasure spots that behold beautiful scenery and family oriented activities! Hiking, biking and boating are some favorite summer activities shared by many families alike.

If your family loves biking, there are some great choices of beautiful bike trails in the Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota tri-state area. In southeast Minnesota lies the town of Lanesboro. Lanesboro is a great small town that has a loving, adventurous atmosphere. The town beholds over 30 miles of hard-top bike trails throughout the town and country side. If you wish to bike for a day, you can drive there, unload and bike till you are ready to head home. If you feel like you want to stay longer, there are many campgrounds, bed and breakfasts, and hotels in the area. Search the web for Lanesboro, MN and you will find loads of tourist information. The southwest Minnesota area is home to many Amish communities and the scenery is unbeatable!

Another great biking town is Sparta, WI. Sparta is located along interstate 90, so the drive is easy from wherever you are in the area. Known as the bicycle capital of America, Sparta has some great bike trails. The trail goes 30 miles from Sparta to Elroy and has many fun stops along the way. Three tunnels are passed through along the way; one tunnel is even a mile long! This trail is a historic path and has many information rest stops along the way. Campgrounds, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and resorts are located along the way for your convenience. There are also many places along the trail where you can stop and get a bite to eat and rest for a while. This is one bike trail your family will want to come back to over and over again!

One of the best attractions in this tri-state area is Wisconsin Dells. Wisconsin Dells is the home to hundreds of tourist attractions. Water-parks, boat rides, fun houses, museums, golf, resorts and theaters fill the town's streets. You can stay for a day, or stay for a week and never run out of things to do and see. Wisconsin Dells is located just off Interstate 90 about 90 miles from La Crosse, WI and 55 miles from Madison, WI. Wisconsin Dells is located along the Wisconsin River, and has some awesome boat tours of caves and other river attractions. The Dells are also known as the water-park capital of the world and host a great family vacation for kids and adults of all ages! This is one place you don't want to miss this summer.

This tri-state area is also home to the mighty Mississippi River. All along the river are small fishing towns that have a great heritage and love tourists. Located in the very north east corner of Iowa lies the town of Lansing. Lansing is a small river town that has plenty of personality! You can find antique and gift shops, pubs, cafes and some great bed and breakfasts in Lansing. Mt. Hosmer park is an amazing lookout that will give you a spectacular view of the river. The old bridge is a spectacular view and lots of fun to cross over the river. If you love fishing or boating, Lansing is the place for you! Visit Lansing Aug 10-12 for their annual Fish Days festival for a big parade, fireworks, venetian river parade and lots of other fun events!

The Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul are located in central Minnesota and make a great day vacation spot. Visit the Mall of America, the Minnesota State Zoo, Children's Museum or any other fun attraction in this great city. The area holds amazing parks and lakes. If you love the city, and want to vacation in the city, the Twin Cities will make a great choice. There is so much to see and do with beautiful scenery all around. Both downtown areas are home to many museums and other historic attractions. Bring your family to Minneapolis and St. Paul for a great city vacation!

Lanesboro, Sparta, Wisconsin Dells, Lansing and the Twin Cities are some great vacation spots in this tri state area. You can stay for a day or longer and have many festive activities that will create lasting family memories for years to come.
