Cheap Food and Drinks for Those on a Budget
Greensboro, NC 27403

Brixx has an amazing special for late night eaters. Anytime after 10pm (9pm on Sundays, since they close earlier) you can do pizza and/or appetizers for buy one, get one free. And for anyone who's never been to Brixx, they have a lot of selection when it comes to their pizzas. They're all personal sized, and they're quite good.
2.) Lindley Park Filling Station: 2201 Walker Ave.
This is a really cute local bar that has great specials. Mondays they have house martinis for $4. Tuesdays, $1 off all alcoholic drinks. Wednesdays, 1/2 off wine. Fridays, $3.50 house highballs, Sundays they have an awesome brunch, as well as $4 mimosas and 1/2 off appetizers from 7-10pm.
3.) Carniceria el Mercadito: 2408 Spring Garden St.
A Mexican grocery store with a deli in the back. They have *the* most delicious quesadillas, tortas, tacos, etc., for $4-5 each. The only catch is you have to order in Spanish. But as long as you're not picky, it's not hard. The names of the dishes are right there on the sign.
4.) Super G Mart: 4927 W Market St.
This grocery store has the cheapest produce. I've filled a bag with fresh produce for under $10. Also, since they're an international grocery store, they have all kinds of cool fruits and vegetables that you wouldn't normally find at Harris Teeter/Food Lion/Lowes.
5.) Vintage 301: 301 Martin Luther King Jr Dr.
Vintage 301 is an upscale restaurant with an extensive wine selection. They can be a bit pricey but they have great specials all week long. Tuesday you can get $10 off selected bottles of wine. Wednesdays, 10% off any food. Thursdays, $1 off all alcoholic drinks. Friday, all beer from their extensive and well appointed beer list is 50% off. (Be aware that all of these specials are only applicable after 4:30pm.)
5.) Bianca's: 1901 Spring Garden St.
Bianca's is a cute, comfortable Italian restaurant where you can get a lot of food for a reasonable price. For just the price of an entree (around $9-$15), you get an appetizer, a salad, garlic bread, a dessert, and a side of pasta (if your dish doesn't have pasta in it). Also, they are constantly giving out coupons for carafes of wine, so you can add a carafe of house wine onto that meal for only one additional dollar. That equals about two glasses per person for two people. And the food is really good--all in all, it's a great deal.
6.) Westerwood Tavern: 508 Guilford Ave.
If it's cheap drinks you're looking for, look no further than Westerwood Tavern. Their dollar mug nights on Wednesday nights are practically legendary. Just bring in your largest mug and they'll fill it up with beer for a dollar. (If it goes beyond a certain size, they will charge you two dollars, but it has to be pretty big to get to that point.) Sure, the beer selection for dollar mug night isn't great, but hey, it's definitely one the cheapest ways to get drunk in town.
7.) Yum Yums: 1219 Spring Garden St.
Yum Yums is located on UNCG's campus, and they have the best ice cream (and apparently hot dogs, although I personally cannot attest to this) in town. And for great prices. You can get a small ice cream for a flat $2, and they really pack it in there. I'm an ice cream lover and I always feel like a small was enough ice cream for me (which is saying a lot). Not to mention, their ice cream is homemade so it's incredibly delicious. Isn't homemade ice cream just always the best?
8.) Fat Dogs: 2503 Spring Garden St.
Fat Dogs is a small sports bar, and they have really cheap food and drinks. They have mostly bar food--burgers, hot dogs, sausages, wings, with various potato sides--waffle fries, hot chips, tater tots, etc. But they also have stuff for vegetarians, like veggie burgers and veggie dogs. And they have specials all week long on both food and drinks. Thursday nights are especially popular for their $1 off wings, $2 Budweiser and Bud Lites, and $3 house highballs. Even without specials, their food and drinks are really inexpensive. Oh yeah, and their fried pickles are awesome. You have to try them.
9.) Cooper's Ale House: 5340 W Market St.
Cooper's is a sports bar that gets a large college crowd (among others). They have lots of TVs to watch various sports games and are known for their good bar food. They have some great specials, especially their happy hour special that goes from Monday to Friday, wherein they have $1 off all drinks and $2 off all menu items before 6pm. They have wings specials every Monday, $4 Jagermeister on Wednesdays, $1 off all draught beers on Thursdays, and $5 stoli drinks on Sunday.
