- "Half the world - nearly three billion people - live on less than two dollars a day."
- "Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names."
- "Approximately 790 million people in the developing world are still chronically undernourished, almost two-thirds of whom reside in Asia and the Pacific."
- "A few hundred millionaires now own as much wealth as the world's poorest 2.5 billion people." - (Statistics by Globalissues.org)

Most probably these few statistics helped them to set their life's goal. Everyone live for their own life. How many of us want to live because of other's life? There are few people who found the meaning of their life within others. In today's socioeconomic culture, sometime it is difficult to find people who can think something other than their own family, relatives, wishes and dreams. They become successful to set themselves as an example to our youths. On early 1990's, few students of early 20's reached US and Canada from India to complete their higher education. They could have spent a joyful and relaxed life here in US and Canada. It was easy to forget the old days of their childhood and mingle themselves into the wealth and lifestyle of western countries at that age of early 20's. But they are not meant for that. They tried to do something for their mother land, India. They formed a small group with few students from India across US and started activities which can help the people of India. They wanted to do something while staying at a distance from their mother land. In 1991 they formed an institution, namely 'Association for India's Development', in short AID to help people in India.

Association of India's Development (AID) is a volunteer organization working for development, poverty and literacy. They dream for a better India with food for everyone, literacy for each individual. They help other organizations who want to work for education, natural resources, health, women's empowerment and social justice for people of India. As of today, they have more than thousands volunteers who are working across the globe. They have total 36 chapters in US and 6 chapters in India. Till date AID supported more than 365 projects across 18 states spread across India. "Problems are interconnected, so must be the solution" is the vision of this charitable organization. In most of the cases poverty drives man into serious malnutrition and illness. Sometimes lack of awareness and illiteracy makes the diseases more critical and that finally lead to immature death of those innocent people. If we help people to make their lifestyle better that in terms help them to live a healthier life. If we able to educate people properly that will in terms help them to protect them from attack of life threatening diseases. AID builds their aim to counter attack these interrelated problems. They are continuously working for the initiatives involving education, health-care, social & environmental awareness, lifestyle etc. If you have any question or concerns you can talk with them over phone 1-888-TALK-2-AID.

Lodhar School is running on AID's support. This school is now helping more than 150 village children to get the basic education. In 2004 AID did a great work for relief and rehabilitation of Tsunami victims of India. Look here to see their activities done during Tsunami in 2004. AID is also working Indo-Pak peace and received word of appreciations. AID is also working on several petitions to help those need people to reach their voice to appropriate place of attention. In this long run of 15 years there are several awards and reorganizations have been added in the glorious bucket of AID. In 1997, AID bagged the International History Week Humanitarian Leadership Award. AID has been recognized as one of the highest rated charities (4-star rating) by Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator. From this page you can able to view complete rating of AID by Charity Navigator. In 2003 AID was recognized at Vishwasetu Conference. I believe that the most valuable award for AID is the opportunity to server several thousands needy people across the world, who really wanted a friend like AID to be with them during their bad days.
