It's that time of year. Father's Day is just around the corner, and people everywhere are turning their attention to what to buy for Dad this year. This guide will give you a few ideas to help you decide what gift to give your Dad for Father's Day. Forget about ties and cologne and try a different sort of gift for Dad.

For The Adventurous Dad:

A Rock Climbing Experience - Starting at $120, sites like Excitations will help you plan and ready for an adventurous rock climbing trip. You can give the gift of indoor (safer) or outdoor rock climbing to your dad for Father's Day.

The Gift of Flight - What about giving your dad a flying lesson for Father's Day? There are many small local airports around the United States where people can take flying lessons. It could run you $100 or more per lesson, but if your dad is an aeronautical type he'll probably enjoy it.

For The Hardworking Dad:

Massage - A massage is a great Father's Day gift for a hardworking dad. He'll leave the spa feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Want this for your dad? Find a reputable spa in your area but asking coworkers for referrals, checking the phone book and cross-referencing with the Better Business Bureau, or searching the internet. How much? Usually $60-$100.

A Business Card Case - If you have a day who frequently hands out business cards, a special business card case could be just the thing for them. You can get sleek ones monogrammed or unique ones. Coach, for instance, sells various ones with their signature C or plan leather for between $48 and $78. Tiffany & Co. has beautiful sterling silver business card cases starting at $250. Or for a less expensive option, Things Remembered has various nickel and chrome cases in the $20-$30 range.

For The Foodie Dad:

A Cooking Class - A great hands-on cooking class can be a fun, exciting and useful Father's Day gift. For a dad who loves food and cooking this is a real treat. Not sure where to find a class? Many Williams-Sonoma stores offer in store classes (for about $60). There is also The Silo in Connecticut, and many cooking schools offer one-off events as well. Prices on cooking classes very substantially, but could be anywhere from $30-$300 or more.

BBQ Tools - A great Father's Day gift for the foodie dad is a nice set of barbeque tools. You can find handsome boxed sets to give as gifts at stores like Williams-Sonoma or less expensive versions at stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond. Cost for this gift? $30-$75 You could also give your dad some special barbeque accessories like fish baskets.

For Any Dad:

Magazine Subscription - Whatever your dad likes, you can find a magazine that's for him. Magazine subscriptions are a gift that extends well beyond Father's Day. And at $10-$30, this is definitely an affordable choice.

A Special Day Out - Giving the gift of father/child time is one of the most thoughtful things you can give a dad for Father's Day. Plan a special day hiking at a local park or picnicking at the beach. Think of what your dad likes to do and do it.
