In Georgia, there a lot of different choices one can make for the summer. These can include fishing, boating, or just going somewhere to relax near the water. As a resident of a Georgia, I have had the pleasure of visiting different locations for recreation in the summer. There are a lot of different lakes a person can choose from Georgia, but Lake Lanier and Alatoona are the most popular, and attract visitors from all over the southeast region. Not only are they visually appealing, the surrounding areas are of historical significance.

Lake Alatoona is a lake located in Cobb County, Georgia. A very popular spot for boating and fishing, Lake Alatoona sporting hybrid striped bass and crappie. The McKinney Campground is one of the largest the Georgia lake has to offer with 150 different camp sites. The site has boat ramp launches and beaches that promote swimming in Alatoona. There is also an attendant, a rarity for the lake. The area is usually very clean, and the swimming beach has a few islands that promote exploration. The Macedonia Campground, as the name implies, is pretty primitive. There's 26 different areas to choose from that include a fire ring, hand water pump, and boating ramp. The Macedonia area of the lake is probably the most genuine campsite of all of the lakes, actually giving campers the wilderness aesthetic.

Lake Lanier is undoubtedly the most popular lake in Georgia. It emcompasses multiple areas in state. It is a large tourist attraction, and brings in a lot of revenue, despite the low lake levels Georgia has been having. There are many beautiful homes and resorts off of the lake, but still promotes good fishing. The Georgia lake is more attraction based, especially for the Anna Ruby Falls. The Anna Ruby Falls is an 150 double waterfall that is very appealing to kids and parents alike. Leading up to the waterfall there is an asphault trail that makes travel to this great lake attraction easy.Off of this lake also is the historic town of Dahlonega, Georgia, the site of the first U.S. gold rush.

The lakes in Georgia are plentiful, with many different options to choose from. They all have magnificient views with various mountains regardless of which lake you visit.
