Volunteer One's Time - Cost: Free
In these tough economic times, giving of one's time can be a gift in itself. If you are a teenager, offer to baby sit your nieces or nephews for free, so that your relative can go out to dinner or a movie. Adults can often volunteer time wrapping gifts at local malls. Tips they receive will often go to charity or the needy. Adults that are not Christian may volunteer their time to fill in for a worker that has to work Christmas. There are a variety of charities that need people to volunteer. One can give a gift card to a friend or relative stating they are donating their time, in the friend or relatives name to a charity.
Gifts for Work:
For under $20.00, people can give gifts to co-workers, such as gift cards to local convenience stores, gas cards, a bottle of wine, or a gift certificate through American Express or MasterCard. Candy, stationary, flowers, and office supplies are appropriate gifts as well. If you happen to be a supervisor or manager of a business unit, a great Christmas gift is letting workers leave early on Christmas Eve. Another great idea for work is organizing a white elephant. This is a popular game in which one can set gifts levels, say $20.00, and people can pick, exchange or trade gifts with each other.
Gifts for Your Parents:
An excellent gift one can give to their parents is a scrap book of photos of your family. These can include pictures of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, activities everyone's participated in the past. Reminiscing and taking the time to put together a thoughtful gift is better than any expensive gift.
Gifts for Children:
One can visit a Game Stop and buy a used video game for a child, if they have a gaming system for under $20.00.
Another great gift idea is to visit a Five and Below store or a Dollar Store for stocking suffers. Children like to receive many toys, and one can buy a lot of toys cheaply there. Also one should look for sales at Toy R Us, or Wal-Mart . These chains often have great toy deals and games for under $20.00
Gifts For Your Spouse :
Give your spouse a piece of mistletoe. Then proceed to kiss. The cost is minimal but the result will be well worth the cost. Other ideas include slippers, gloves, a tie, a DVD or CD.
The best gift ideas are ones that don't cost a lot of money. Thoughtful, well thought out gifts will be received much better than expensive gifts. Hopefully the above ideas will help you have a Merry Christmas without spending a lot of money.
