Microwarp Packable Rain Wear - Price: $110 for the jacket and matching pants

Where to Get It: SierraTradingPost.com

Pella has made some great hunting gear for women, and this Microwarp collection is no exception. This gear is whisper quiet and completely easy to pack, making it a great choice for a long distance hunt. The jacket and matching pants are waterproof and windproof and yet breathable, thanks to the DryMax membrane in the lining. It comes in two different types of camo, and you can even wash and hang dry, leaving out costly trips to the dry cleaners. The jacket has a built-in visor to keep the rain off your face, while the pants come complete with pockets and zip and snap legs.

Junior Woodsman Clothing - Price: $40 for the whole get-up

Where to Get It: Sierra Trading Post

If you are taking your kid out for their very first hunt, it's a good idea to make sure they're not miserably wet and cold. This new collection from Mossy Oak will have junior decked out in style, and comfortably warm. The "silent" chamois shirt comes in a full range of sizes from 6 all the way up to 20. It features long sleeves and a button down collar, as well as two button pockets. The insulated bibs also come in the same size range and feature adjustable shoulder straps, pockets and an elastic waist. They are also nylon lined to make them even easier to get on. The heavy duty insulation will ensure your kid stays dry and toasty, all throughout your hunt.

Stalker Hide Waterproof Jacket - Price: $80

Where to Get It: SierraTradingPost.com

Even if you've got a manly man, chances are, he gets a bit shivery after a long day hunting the "big one." This Stalker Hide Waterproof Jacket from Remington will ensure he stays nice and warm, even in wet conditions. The insulation is 180 gram Thinsulate, which provides warmth without bulk. The outer pockets are spill-proof and generous, while the inner pockets provide more security for items that need to stay put. The zip-through collar (and believe it or not beard protector) will keep him nice and dry, and the double-storm flap over the coat's zipper provides ultimate rain protection. This jacket is made out of Rem-Tech laminate, making it waterproof, but breathable. Even with all these special features, you can still throw it in the washer and dryer after the hunt.

Carson Safety Vest - Price: $60

Where to Get It: SierraTradingPost.com

No hunter should be without a blaze orange hunting vest. It provides safety and cuts down on accidental shootings. This vest is one-up on the competition by offering not only a bright orange color, but also a handy tree stand harness in the back. Handwarmer pockets and a rear-zip pouch round out this handy and practical vest. If your hunter isn't using a stand, they can simply store the harness away right inside the pouch and use the vest as an extra safety measure. For extra security and durability, the straps are made as an actual part of the vest, but tuck away when not in use.

  • When in doubt, buy something in bright orange
  • Waterproof gear is always appreciated by hunters
  • Look for Thinsulate Lining - it's warm without being bulky

You have a great list of options for hunters. May I also suggest checking out the various camouflage options including coats, pants, and hats at: http://www.predatorbdu.com

Another great thing to do for the hunter in your family is to ask what he needs. Maybe he needs some new arrowheads or bullets. Maybe he needs some new laces for his boots or some other little trinket like that. It is also a good idea to get a service done for him like getting his gun professionly cleaned or repaired.

I think a great idea for the hunter in your family is a hat or t shirt that says he is a hunter. A nice t shirt with a deer or a funny hunting graphic is a lways nice. Or a bright orange or camoflauge hat is always a winner.
