Great Gifts Perfect for Book Lovers

Do you have a gift recipient on your list who loves to read? If you do, you may want to focus on their love of reading when it comes time to make your gift purchase. To help you accomplish this, a few great gift ideas are outlined below. These gift ideas are nice as they are perfect for just about any occasion, including Christmas, birthdays, and other special events.

When it comes to choosing a gift for an avid reader, your first impulse may be to purchase a new book or a book written by one of your gift recipient's favorite authors. While this approach is a nice one, it is also one that can be tricky. You may not know exactly what books your gift recipient has read. Unless you plan to specifically ask your intended gift recipient for a list of books, you may want to check out a few of the great gift ideas outlined below.

Gift Certificates

A gift certificate to a local bookstore is a great gift idea for book lovers. A gift certificate allows your gift recipient to make their own purchases. This is great, as everyone gets what they want. Your gift recipient is able to purchase a book that they want to read or one that they have yet to read and you get to ensure that your money is well spent.

When giving the gift of a gift certificate to a bookstore, be sure that you choose a store that is local to your gift recipient. This is particularly important with long distance friends and relatives. Also, if your gift recipient is known for shopping online, you may want to examine Overstock.com, as they have great prices on books and other media items. Just be sure to use your best judgment when buying a gift certificate that can only be redeemed online.

Reward / Membership Cards

Reward cards are another great gift idea for book lovers. Reward cards; however, should not be confused with discount book clubs or programs.

One retailer that offers a membership card is that of Barnes and Noble. For an affordable fee, like $25, your gift recipient will receive a membership card that enables them to receive discounts on all purchases made with the participating retailer, like Barnes and Noble. If you know for sure that your gift recipient purchases their books from a location that offers a discounted membership card, you may be able to save them a lot of money overtime.

It may also be a good idea to include this membership card with a discounted book or a traditional gift certificate.

Personalized Throw Blankets

You have likely heard the phrase "cuddle up and read a book." If this is something that your gift receipt is known to do, a personalized throw blanket may make for the perfect gift. Personalized throw blankets are ideal gifts for children, parents, and grandparents. Throw blankets can also be given to those who you are not personally close with, but in these instances it may be best to go with traditional throw blankets instead of one that is personalized.

Small Table or Transportable Lamps

In keeping with "cuddling up and reading a book," another great gift idea for book lovers is that of a small table, desk, or transportable lamp. This type of gift is great for readers who need to turn on a large room light just to read a book. Small table, desk, and transportable lights make reading a book for your gift recipient easier than ever.

The above mentioned gift ideas for book lovers are just a few of the many that you may want to examine. Once you start shopping, you may find that additional gift ideas just come to you.
