Great Gifts for Associated Content Writers

Holiday Gift Guide

Caged Heart
Writers for Associated Content are a distinctively diverse group of people, that is for sure! But, as writers, we all could use some basic items, to help us be more productive and happier. When you are looking for gift for Associated Content Writers, or want to give someone shopping for holiday gifts for you as a writer, some common items that will help you are:

A Hard Copy of AC101! - This great collection of information about submitting terrific content to Associated Content is definitely worth printing it out on quality paperstock and slipping it into a divided section in a binder. Your writer will thumb through it often, getting suggestions about everything from writing headlines and using tools such as NicheBot and Textalyzer to how to promote your content and thus, increase your pageviews and clout, using social bookmarking. AC101 is a bit like a specific reference book, just for Associated Content writers.

Several 3-ring binders and a ream or two of college rule notebook paper - Writers are always jotting down notes and ideas. Every news story you see, every outrageous talk show, every person you meet, may just be your next article. And, for me, scribbling down thoughts and ideas on paper is much more productive than typing them out on my computer. Divide your notebooks into sections: Published, Paypal, Ideas, People, etc. and makes notes! WARNING! DO NOT try and write in your notebooks while driving down the freeway!

Handheld Digital Recorder - I really like my Panasonic Digital Voice Recorder. It has voice-activated recording, so I just have to talk for a second or two, saying something like 'ok I am going to record another great article outline' and after those few seconds, it will be picking up every word I say. The Digital Voice Recorder really comes in handy when my hands are full and my head is about ready to explode with article ideas for Associated Content or my other venues.

USB Thumb Drive - These little puppies are fantastic! Small, lightweight, you can even wear them around your neck as a pendant! It is like a little hard drive to collect all your information and articles, including pictures. Then just plug it into the USB port on your laptop or desktop computer, and you have instant access to everything you need to write even more and better content for Associated Content.

An Endless Supply of Pens - Even sitting at my very organized (budding neatfreak here) desk with drawer and cubbyholes, I lose pens. I lose pens to the tune of about a dozen a week! Writers need writing instruments. Sure, a fancy schmancy $400 pen would be elegant, but please, give the writers on your gift list pens they won't be upset to lose! Boxes of cheap stick pens store nicely in the 'supply cabinet'.

High Speed Internet Access - If the writer in your life lives anywhere even near high speed internet access, get a subscription for them! Dial up is slowwwwwww! Uploading a 1200 word article with accompanying pictures or artwork is much faster and easier with high speed internet, and the writer will be even more prolific. Prolific writers are happier writers! High speed internet access can make home videos much easier and faster, as well. Instead of taking several hours to upload a homemade video article, you can quickly upload in just a few minutes. And, don't even think about all the times that you've lost your dial up connection completely and had to start over! That probably will never happen with high speed.

A great pair of sound muffling headphones - The TV can be blaring in the livingroom, that gaggle of pre-teen boys having the sleepover can be giggling (do boys giggle? YES, they do!) and with sound muffling headphones, the writer can be peacefully typing away in the den. Definitely worth the price!

So, now you have a few ideas for gifts for the writer in your life, and just look around and you can come up with many more creative gift ideas for the creative Associated Content writer in your life! Make up a coupon book. Include coupons for things like a night away from the computer, a coupon that tells your writer how special they are, or a coupon that promises to do ALL the laundry or fix dinner while she finishes that important article. A great floor lamp for the den is a great idea. Stocking the pantry with his favorite snacks and beverages will ease the hunger pangs when your writer is just too busy to stop writing and fix something cooked.

Use your own knowledge of the Associated Content writer in your life and give them gifts that enhance their experience!

A great idea for an article. Reading your article, I realized that I don't use pens! And I don't print out hard copies either. It is all on my laptop. Having a laptop with wireless is heaven. I hope you all get laptops for your birthdays.

These are great choices. Don't forget that some of us are videographers. So that type of equipment would be great too. Laptop equipment too! Sometimes we don't want to be stuck at our desks and want to head out to the local coffee joint to write and sip coffee.

I would definitely agree with the recorder-I got one last week (although mine is the old-school mini-cassette) and find I am using it quite abit..I drive from job to job during the day, and am so often scrambling to take down notes on something for writing ideas, for work, whatever-and have found the recorder to be very helpful, especially in traffic!

I guess that having three out of the seven isn't bad. Great article!
