Holiday Gift Guide

Crystal
Yoga has been around for centuries, but has recently gained popularity as a great way to get fit. If you have someone on your gift lift who is interested in starting yoga, you are in luck. There are a multitude of items available for you to purchase. Ranging from videos to clothing, yoga items are sold mainstream America. Here is a list of just a few for you to consider.

Yoga Sticky Mat
It is called a sticky mat due to its nonskid backing. This keeps it from sliding around while one practices yoga. The standard size is 24" x 68". One of the most popular ones has insulation to protect the practitioner from a cold floor. It comes in a variety of colors such as black, blue, red, purple, and green. I have seen it sold at Wal-Mart for $10. They also offer it online at www.walmart.com. One can also purchase this mat online at www.barefootyoga.com where it retails for about $20.

Yoga Balls
These are called yoga balls, but they really are exercise (or balance) balls. They range in size. This helps to gear the correct ball size for the optimum benefit. The size of the ball you need will depend on your gift recipient's height. In other words, a 55cm ball would be for a person around 5-5 1/2 feet tall. There are balls available for those over 6' tall. Just check around.

Actually, check out www.yogaaccessories.com for a variety of yoga balls available. Yoga Accessories states they are noted for their wholesale online prices. They also offer a nice assortment of items to assist in practicing yoga.

Crystal Edge manufactures a yoga ball that comes with an instructional wall chart and inflatable pump. It retails for $11 to $20, depending on where you buy it. Wal-Mart sells it both in-store and online - for around $11.

There are a variety of other manufacturers of yoga balls.

Yoga Magazine Subscription
If your new yoga practitioner likes to read here is a great idea. A subscription to the popular Yoga Journal publication would be very welcome by the new yoga practitioner on your list. This publication would provide inspiration and motivation. It is an easy reading publication with beautiful graphics. In fact, this magazine makes wonderful use of pose photography. Plus, your recipient could sign up for online newsletters on various subjects. The subscription also offers discounts on various products sold through Yoga Journal. The subscription cost $15.95 for one year.

Visit Yoga Journal at www.yogajournal.com for more information. They offer gift cards that can be sent to your gift recipient, if requested.

Yoga Kit
This is the easiest gift-giving way yet. Buy a Yoga Kit that has everything your new yoga person will need. The Kit comes with a sticky mat with dimensions of 24" x 68". This mat rolls up easily and transports well. Also included in the kit are two yoga blocks to provide support during certain yoga positions. A 6' cotton strap is also in the Kit. Plus, the best part for a beginner…. a 60 minute video is included. What more could they want?!

This Yoga Kit is sold at Wal-Mart for about $20. It is available both online at www.walmart.com and in their stores.

Yoga Video
One of the most popular yoga videos available for yoga newbies is titled 'Yoga for Longevity'. Yoga is known for increasing mobility while decreasing stress. This video has a variety of poses to help with these areas. The yoga postures/exercises are advertised to help slow the aging process while also aiding with the body's natural healing ability.

This video sells for about $15. I have seen it at a variety of department stores and online.

Well, there you have it. There should be something in this article to ease your shopping decision regarding your yoga newbie. This is only the tip of the iceberg regarding products available for the yoga connoisseur. Good luck!
