Halloween is just around the corner! So get those pumpkins out and your decorating skills to the test as we celebrate one of the year's most awaited holidays. Here are some great pumpkin decorating ideas you can try out for this Halloween season:

Carving - carving pumpkins with different spooky faces has been an ongoing tradition that is widely celebrated during Halloween. Jack O'Lanterns are widely popular and you can go from the usual triangular eyes and a mouth for the pumpkin's face. For the more adventurous people, more complex designs and shapes can be carved onto the pumpkin.

All you need to do to in order to get your pumpkin ready as a lantern is to cut the top part off if you are going to use candles for lighting, or the bottom part if you are going to use a light bulb plugged into an electric socket. The next thing you need to do is to scrape off the inside of the pumpkin and then trace your design on the front of the pumpkin. Once your design is laid out, use a sharp knife or a carving tool and cut out the design. There are lots of pumpkin designs available online if you find yourself in need of inspiration in designing your pumpkin this year.

Painting - painting pumpkins is slowly but surely gaining popularity right now as an alternative to carving pumpkins. Painting is relatively easier compared to carving, and you can get your kids to decorate the pumpkins themselves without having to worry about them getting cut or wounded during carving. Painting is an enjoyable pumpkin decorating idea you can do with your kids, and the sky is the limit when it comes to what you or your kids want to paint your pumpkin with.

Decorate your pumpkin with items found in the house - aside from the traditional carving and painting pumpkins, you can also choose to decorate pumpkins for this Halloween by sticking household items onto the pumpkin itself. Get creative as you use buttons for the eyes, yarn for hair, have your pumpkin wear a hat or perhaps a bow tie, sprinkle glitters, and other ways you can think of dressing up your pumpkin.

You can also use different sizes of pumpkins and sit them on your front porch or by your window sill. Or better yet, make a pumpkin for each family member and have each family member personalize their pumpkin. These will serve as great decorations not only during the night, but during day time as well.

Halloween is the perfect time for you to get your creative juices flowing! So let your imagination run loose and watch as your pumpkins come alive with decorations this Halloween!
