• Home made food items
What grandparent doesn't love a well cooked festive dessert like a Divinity, Chocolate Fudge, or some Pecan treats? These gifts are relatively inexpensive and very prevalent throughout many stores during the holiday shopping season. For about 20 dollars you can find various flavors of pecan desserts. Some flavors include: Cappuccino, Chocolate, Chocolate Toffee, Cinnamon, Lime pecan, Chocolate Ameretto, and various other mixed nuts and flavors.
• Go phones at walmart
With all the new technology coming out in the high tech arena of cell phones, Grandparents seem to be left out of the mix. Most older folks don't know the first thing about an Iphone and all its Applications, much less how to dial out on those touch screen or tiny button phones. One of the best gifts out on the market for Grandparents has to be the Virgin Mobile TNT Flip Phone with features like speaker phone, caller id, and voice recognition. It's a steal at just $14.98 and is simple enough that even your Grandparents can use it hassle free!
• Picture magnets at Rite Aid
Not everyone is a crafty christmas gift maker, and not everyone can come up with creative ideas at the last minute. The Picture magnet idea is one I came up with after going to a cousin's wedding in which her and the groom both had picture magnets made for their guests. I know it sounds really complicated, but it is in fact quite easy to make your own picture magnet! First all you have to do is dress up and take a picture of yourself in a festive Christmas outfit with your loved ones, or if you already have a picture you'd like to use, you're already halfway there! If you don't already have a picture, just take one with your digital camera or a friends camera, and hop on down to a local Rite Aid to print this picture out! They have a photo section with some magnets that have adhesive sides which will run you about $5-12 dollars depending on the size you pic. You just pic out the size magnet you like ranging from wallet size (2inx3in) to about letter head size (8in x11in), and select your photo you would like to stick to the side of the magnet, and VOILA! Your picture magnet is complete!
• Extra Long Shoe Horn
I know plenty of you haven't ever heard of this one! I heard about the extra long shoe horn from my dad, who has always had trouble putting his shoes on with the shorter shoe horns. He's recently had some knee problems, and the extra long reach of these (about 31 inches) is very helpful for him when he needs to put some shoes on. Amazon sells these shoe horns for about 20 bucks, and boy are they going fast! Anyone with an older relative or Grandparent should definitely look into purchasing these for a Christmas present!
• Drive-way Alarm
This item is essential for the elderly! It alerts them via an adjustable volume sound alarm when anything larger than a cat comes in their driveway or anywhere they set the alarm on their property. It works up to 400 feet away and can be adjusted for volume loudness. Not only is this useful for the elderly, but its great for just about anyone that can't get up to a window quickly to see if anyone is on their property. It's a nice little weather proof security system that will have you feeling more secure in your home for only 30 dollars at your nearest Harbor freight store.
Hopefully these gift ideas will help you in spreading the holiday cheer to your family and grandparents. I know personally that all the gifts listed above have garnered great reviews, and much use out of my family members who constantly say how much they have loved their gifts. Happy Shopping and Season's Greetings!
