Great Holiday Gifts Under $20 for Cats and Their Owners

Scratching Pad
Cats love to scratch and sharpen their claws. Of course, this can ruin the furniture. Why not give your cat lover something that will help them overcome this dilemma? There are a variety of both scratching pads and scratching posts that both cat owners and cats will love.

Cosmic Alpine produces a popular selling scratching pad, recommended by a friend. It is called the Cosmic Alpine Inclined Cat Scratcher With Catnip. The scratching pad is treated with catnip to entice the cat. The scratching surface is made of cardboard, which is a surface cats seem to love. What is nice about this scratching pad is the inclined position. It lets the cat climb and stretch. We all know how cats love to stretch!

Of particular importance is the fact that there are replacement scratching blocks with catnip available. The Cosmic Alpine scratching pad unit is sold at various department stores and pet stores. It retails around $15.

Carrying Kennel
A kennel is great to have for either of the following reasons: 1) a place for the cat to sleep, or 2) to carry the cat in while traveling. It seems that every cat owner needs to have one. Once again, there are a large selection of shapes, sizes, and colors to choose from.

An economical and standard dog kennel is great for cats. One of the most popular selling ones is manufactured by Vari-Kennel. They contain a secure door latch, quick latching assembly system, improved air vents and a more comfortable carrying handle. Durable construction of polypropylene is known to stand up to plenty of use. All have tan tops; base color varies by size. Retail prices range from $14-25, depending on the size chosen.

As with the other items in our cat list, kennels are sold at department stores and pet stores - among other retail outlets. You can pick them up at garage sales and flea markets, also. (For much cheaper than retail!)

Flea Treatment Shampoo
Most cat owners have their own way of dealing with flea concerns. They usually have their preferred brand of treatment. They more than likely can use some extra flea treatment shampoo, however. It is a nice item to have on hand, just in case. There are many manufacturers of flea shampoos. Many times your choice will depend on which brand you are familiar with.

A well-known brand manufacturer of pet shampoo is Adams. They manufacture one titled 'Adams Flea & Tick Shampoo'. It is excellent for killing small crawly pests (fleas, ticks, lice), while also restoring the cat's coat shine. It retails for around $10.

Party collars
For a fun cat gift, buy your cat lover a party collar for their feline. Dress up the cat for the holidays!

Star Party Collars produces a collar titled "Its Party Time!" The Collars are made of colorful Taffeta and are adorned with loads of matching colorful beads. They are available for different holidays. For instance, there is one for Easter, New Year's, etc. Star Party collars have elastic bands to fit around any cat's neck. From sizes small to extra large. They retail for around $10.

Cat Toys
Cats are known for liking to bat things around while playing. A plain and simple ball of yarn has a great reputation for providing hours of entertainment for the feline. However, for the more sophisticated taste, try these toys:

'Great Balls of Fur' is manufactured by Hartz. This is a great combination of a fur ball, cords, and a bell. It will keep your cat entertained for hours.

'Gone Fishin', by Hartz, is a cat toy that is just fun to look at. It will have your cat batting the fish around for hours.

These toys retail for around $10.

Visit www.hartz.com for more information on the variety of products available for cats.

There you have it. You should be able to find something for the cat lover on your list to share with their favorite feline.

Great work, Crystal! My "feline child" is very particular and doesn't play with many toys, but she *does* have lots of fun with her scratching posts. I hope to use your ideas to find some really great kitty Christmas ideas!
