Great Ideas for Making Your Own Prom Jewelry

Bill Smith
Prom is one of the most important times for a high school student and it should be also one of the most memorable nights in your life. A lot of people spend a lot of money getting the right prom outfit and accessories but this can get very expensive. Making your own prom jewelry is just one way you can save a little bit of money without spending a lot of time making your own accessories. If you are looking for a way to make your own jewelry for your prom, here are couple great ideas.

Long beaded chained earrings are just one easy piece of jewelry you can make on your own for prom. For the long beaded chain earrings you are going to need 2 pieces of a 5 millimeter chain, 2 headpins, 2 ear wires and 2 to 4 millimeter bi-cone beads. You can get these supplies at your local craft store or retail store for about ten dollars. You also are going to need some tools such as round-nosed pliers, chain-nosed pliers, wire cutters and crimping pliers. The first thing you want to do is bead the headpins with a bi-cone bead and then loop it around the end of the chain one by one using the pliers. Then attach the other end of the chain to the ear wires. Once you have done that the earrings should be ready to go so you want to look at each end making sure they are all attached securely to each other. This is a great prom jewelry idea because it is very simple and would take about 30 minutes to make.

You can also make a beaded style necklace that would look great for prom and it has the classic choker necklace look. For this project you are going to need a lobster claw clasp with the tab, beading wire, 2 crimp beads, 40 six-millimeter glass pearls in any color, and 21 six-millimeter polish beads in any color. You can get these supplies at your local craft store or retail store for about ten dollars. You are also going to need some wire cutters and crimping pliers for this project and you can either find these at your house or at your local home improvement store. The first thing you want to do is attach the clasp to the wire using the crimp bead. Then for each polished pearl you put on the necklace, you want two of the pearl beads. Repeat the process about 19 times making sure you end each with the pearl beads. If you want to you can end each of these rotations with a different type of bead that you choose. Attach the clasp to the wire using the crimp beads going back through the other beads and then pull snug and crimp the end. You can then trim the end of the wire if you need to and make sure all of the beads are on the necklace how you want them. This is a great homemade prom jewelry idea because you can mix and match the beads for a certain style or to match the colors in your outfit for prom.
