Great Ideas Are Sometimes Born Out of Unconventional Means

Lee VanAmee
This world that we live in today is built out of ideas, awesome, wonderful, mind boggling ideas. Then someone took the labor to put those ideas into physical action and practice. Some of, if not most, of the greatest ideas have come from mistakes. Sometimes it's our own mistakes and other times it's the mistakes of others. The best reactions to duress are to fix it, to come up with an idea and a concrete remedy to not have this mistake happen again. Also, to not look foolish! More of the social and material inventions have come out of fear of looking like a fool, we just can't bear embarrassment. Of course some of the worse ideas have spread from this fear also; it is definitely a double edge sword.

Modern day society would have you believe that the best and brightest of the human race wear the newest trend setting clothing, go to the finest parties, have the most money, have the airbrushed skin, drink the most popular drink of the week and are there just for us to aspire to. Well, until you hear the real truth about them, who they really are when the camera's are off; and then you are challenged to look elsewhere for some brilliance and intelligence. It really pays to have your own ideas about people and not be a sheep following the "in crowd".

Great ideas can come from an intuition, a hunch if you will. It is usually a very tiny, small, barely audible voice that is there for a second and then poof it's gone! It has left me wondering of my sanity more than a few times. Not for hearing the voice mind you, but for following it, with no know explanation to give to my peers, as to why I am doing a certain action or activity. Then when it does come about that it was one of the greatest ideas they have ever seen, well, I can confidently say, "Yes, of course, I knew all along this would work".

Being an old soul, I have always known that life and the riches it brings do not come from aggressively beating your Golden Goose, but from being open to living. That includes entertaining people and their ideas; from any walk of life, any age, any race and any income and social sect. I have my parents to thank for that miracle that they had given me, it has enriched my life to no end.
