Great Jeans for Every Body!

K. F. Lynn
A lot of people today have bought into the skinny jean fad. While these are a great, sleek and trendy look, it is not exactly a trend that every body type can pull off. The skinniness is often unflattering to certain body and leg shapes, however what most women do not realize is that for every shape, there is a style of jeans that will flatter your body and make you look stylish. Remember, it's not just about wearing what's in style - it's about finding what works for you, and flaunting what you've got!

For women who need a little more height: Women of short stature are often caught in the struggle of finding pants that do not cover their feet and accentuate their size. However, there is hope! Shorter women look great in a dark pair of skinny jeans. The dark color combined with the narrow leg and tapering at the heel will give shorter women the appearance of the height that they desire. Even pair these with a cute pair of heels or wedge flip-flops for a great casual look and even more lift.

For the curvier types: First and foremost, if you're trying to make your hips or butt look smaller, NEVER wear lightly colored jeans. This draws attention right to the spot you're trying to avoid! Stick to deep indigos or dark navy when picking out your jeans. That being said, flared leg jeans are a great way to even out your curves. If you've got wide hips, wearing deeply colored flared jeans will draw that curved shape down to your hips and make you appear more balanced.

If curves are what you crave: Not all of us are born with Jennifer Lopez bodies (pre-twins, that is), let's face it. However, unless you're willing to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars for surgery, learning to fake is the next best thing. While dark jeans work best for most body types, for the curvaceously challenged lighter shades of denim work best. What this does is it attracts the eyes to your hips and makes them appear more prominent. Two great shapes for ladies without much junk-in-the-trunk, so to speak, are the increasingly popular high-waisted jeans, and the wide-leg style. A high waist will give the appearance of a cinched-in waist, which will then give the illusion of hips. Wide-leg jeans are great for the office; they're stylish and trendy right now, and they essentially hide any lack of curves. They will give your bottom half a "skirted" look, meaning that it will almost give you a dress-like shape form the waist down.

Remember to wear what works for you! Do not worry too much about what's "in" and what's "out"; be more concerned with what you have, and how you can work with it. There are exceptions to every rule, so don't be afraid to experiment and happy shopping!
