Red lipstick has become something of a pariah in the past decade or so, but it is making a comeback and this Winter loves seeing a lady in red. Contrary to popular belief, red lipstick truly can be worn by anyone regardless of skintone and hair color. With a subtle eye or even a smoky eye, red lipstick brings out the silent movie siren in all of us and makes any dreary winter ensemble look fresh and seductive. Glamour and the look of retro Hollywood is very hot this winter, and nothing says glamour better than a brilliant, red pout.
Smoky eyes never seem to go out of fashion, but this winter the smoky eye look isn't just created with grays and blacks. Lucious browns, purples and intense emerald hues are hot off of the runways for the winter making smoky eyes anything but boring. However, if you plan to use jewel tones for your smoky eyed look, it is best to stick with a subdued lip in order to not look overdone. A nice neutral lipstick or high shine gloss is all you need so that your eyes remain the focal point and your look remains classy.
Blushes and bronzers are a wonderful way to make winter pale skin stay looking sunkissed and glowy. Colder weather tends to dry out skin and leave it looking pasty and dull, but a nice cream based blush or bronzer can work wonders with the dual benefits of moisturizing your skin while giving it a natural color. Browns, berries, and roses are the colors of choice for the long winter months and when applied on the apple of the cheeks rather than under the cheekbone, make you look like you've been to the tropics for the weekend. If you can't get away to St. Tropez, you can at least look like you did!
Golds, mauves, berries, red, rich espresso browns, jewel tones and even deeper shades of pink as well as grays are all wonderful colors to experiment with for the winter. Any charcoal or dark brown outfit can really pop when you pair them up with beautifully shadowed eyes, brilliant lips and fresh blushing cheeks. Your make-up pallet for the winter can truly add warmth to your look even when the sun won't be making its appearance for a few more months.
Don't be afraid to experiment with bolder colored cosmetics this winter. It's the perfect time to try out new looks and get daring with your colors. Perk up that turtleneck and wool suit with some jewel toned eyes or a fire engine red pout. You just may end up with a new look you'll love!
