Great Mexican Food in Corpus Christi, Texas

Terri
I really enjoy trying different mexican restaurants. It's amazing how many restaurants there are to choose from in Corpus Christi. I know there are still many more that I haven't even tried yet. However, I'm going to share my favorites with you.

Kiko's Mexican Food Restaurant is at the top of the list as far are mexican restaurants in Corpus Christi. I haven't had anything there that I did not like and the prices are very reasonable. However, my favorite is the Special Mexican Dinner which has a little of everything. With this meal, you receive queso, a tostada with guacamole and a taco as your starter. The rest of your meal consists of 2 enchiladas, a bean chalupa, rice & beans and of course, tortillas. It's a lot of food, but it's really good. Unless you're really hungry, you will be able to bring part of this home for a second meal. Another personal favorite is the Gents special. It consists of fried fajitas (your choice of chicken or beef), queso, rice & beans and tortillas. The food is delicious. The service is almost always good. Of course, we tend to get the same waitress most of the time and she is really good. The only drawback to the restaurant is they are so busy that you tend to have a long wait unless you go during off hours. We sometimes go in the middle of the afternoon to avoid the long wait. However, if you go and have to wait, there is a cantina that you can sit in. While there, you can watch what's on the television, have some chips and salsa and a drink. It's very comfortable and if you're not in a hurry, why not enjoy it. They are located at 5514 Everhart Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78411. The phone number is 361-991-1211. My next favorite place is Yoli's Mexican Restaurant. This is a relatively new restaurant on the West side of Corpus Christi. Don't let appearances fool you. When you see the restaurant from the outside, you don't really expect much. However, the food is wonderful and relatively inexpensive compared to most places. I've only been at lunch time, but the service is really good. It is located at 4217 Agnes St, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. The phone number is 361-888-8852.

La Playa Mexican Restaurant & Cantina also makes my top 5 favorites. The fajitas are really good. Although, I think the prices at La Playa are a little high, they have a very nice atmosphere. This restaurant has multiple locations, but I've only been to the location at 5017 Saratoga Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78413. Visit their website at www.laplaya.cc/ to find the other locations in Corpus Christi.

Another place to go for great mexican food is Rafael's Restaurant. Don't let the size of the place fool you. It's a tiny little restaurant, but they have great food. My favorite item on the menu is the puffy tacos. Those tacos are really good. You can get a plate for as little as five dollars. The restaurant is located at 1301 South 15th Street, Corpus Christi, TX 78404. The phone number is 361-883-1202 and you can visit their website at www.rafaelsrestaurante.com/index.htm.

Last, but not least, is P.O.E.T.S. Family Restaurant. This is really not a mexican restaurant, but in my opinion they have some of the best mexican food in town. I can't even tell you what my favorite item is because they are all so good. The staff is very friendly and they always provide outstanding service. They do not open until 5pm so you can't go there for lunch. P.O.E.T.S. is located at 4825 Saratoga Boulevard, Corpus Christi, Texas 78413. Visit their website at www.poetsfamilyrestaurant.com/home.nxg. I don't think you will be disappointed.

If you are looking for great mexican food in Corpus Christi, there are many places you can go. If you haven't tried any of those mentioned above, I would recommend that you do.
