If you are looking for something to do in New Orleans then do give their museums some of your time. Any of them mentioned here will have the address as well as a website link. The "Big Easy" is famous for Mardi Gras but don't forget their many other fine activities to do in the city.
The National World War II Museum
Because I am a history buff I love the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. You can visit the museum at 945 Magazine Street in New Orleans and the website can be found here. The National World War II Museum was originally the D- Day Museum. Check the website for current World War II exhibits as well as plenty of online stuff you will enjoy. Among the cool things always there are a Sherman Tank, a C-47 plane, and Higgins Landing Craft, built there in New Orleans.
The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum
It is hard to think of New Orleans without a thought or two about Voodoo. The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum can be found at 724 Durmaine Street in the French Quarter. Feel free to visit the website by clicking this link. This Voodoo Museum has been around since 1972!
Louisiana Children's Museum
The Louisiana Children's Museum is located at 420 Julia Street in New Orleans, and their website is here. Looking for something to occupy the kids while you are in the "Big Easy"? This is the place for you then. There are all kinds of fun learning activities in this New Orleans museum.
Louisiana State Museum
The Louisiana State Museum has 5 locations in the French Quarter; visit the website for more information. The Louisiana State Museum has thousands of exhibits educating you about the history of the state. As a historical map lover I enjoy the fact that there are over 1,400 maps at the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans.

I so want to go to New Orleans...never been there yet. Also want to see the remaining plantations which I hear there is a whole row in Baton Rouge.
