Great Outdoor Performance Venues in New Jersey

Sensational Outdoor Concert Venues in the Garden State

M.G. Hardiman
Who doesn't thrill to the sights and sounds of a musical or theater performance when it's held in a park-like setting? I know I do, and there are some great outdoor spaces and venues in the sunny, Garden State of New Jersey. Whether you live close to the Jersey Shore or prefer the sights and sounds of Bruce Springsteen's hometown of Asbury Park to the north, there's something for every performing arts lover in New Jersey this year.

New Jersey's Arts and Entertainment Roots

New Jersey has long inspired its native sons and daughters to pursue the performing arts. Frank Sinatra hailed from Hoboken. John Travolta calls Englewood his hometown. Meryl Streep's from Summit and Kevin Spacey's from South Orange. Susan Sarandon grew up in Edison. Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame grew up in Livingston, Anne Hathaway in Millburn, James Gandolfini in Westwood, and Nathan Lane in Jersey City. Tom Cruise claims Glenridge and Avery Brooks New Brunswick, New Jersey for their respective hometowns. Alan Alda commuted home from L.A. to New Jersey for 11 years when he starred in the hit television series M.A.S.H. Indeed, New Jersey's arts and entertainment roots run deep and probably account for the many indoor and outdoor performance venues in and around the Garden State.

Wide Variety of Outdoor Performance Venues in the Garden State

Bon Jovi's home state of New Jersey rocks for a wide variety of outdoor venues, from traditional amphitheaters to open-air sound stages in New Jersey's state parks. Whatever you're looking for in terms of a great outdoor performance venue, New Jersey's got it for you. These venues are close to lodging, dining, entertainment and other outdoor activities. New Jersey has several airports, train stations, and bus depots for easy access and transportation. If your outdoor performance is in Northern New Jersey, you can take the shuttle into Newark International Airport or cab it from any one of the airports and train stations in New York City. If your outdoor concert is in South Jersey, you can take a limousine from Philadelphia International Airport.
