My first and foremost number one place to eat is Fergies Classic Grill and Bar, located in Elizabethtown, by Wal-Mart and Lowe's at 1604 Ring Road. The reason that I love this restaurant is because not only is the food absolutely amazing, the service is wonderful, and the drinks are great. Now, my favorite appetizer is going to have to be the steak queso cheese fries. For about eight dollars you get a massive platter of fries that are smothered in queso cheese, steak, bacon, sun dried tomatoes, and a few other things. These fries are so wonderful that every time my family and I go to Fergies we always get this platter, and within about ten minutes of having it set in front of us, the plate is completely clean of all fries, steak, bacon and the cheese is swiped off of the plate with fingers, spoons and forks; Literally finger licking good. The fries are very filling and could even be considered a meal in it self. Fergies offers a variety of meals, from Frog-legs to baked spaghetti, honey chicken ( one of my favorites) and succulent juicy steak cooked to your liking. The meals are served of course with sides, ranging from broccoli with cheese to loaded potatoes. The average price for two adults and one child is around forty-five dollars, depending on whether you order an appetizer and a few drinks from there mini or full bar. (For you sports fans, Fergies' boasts six large to medium flat screen t.v.'s that are located in the restaurant and bar area.) They serve a variety of beers, from tap to bottle, and have excellent mixed drinks, and shooters. I loved the orange Creamsicle shooter, and they also have wonderful long islands. The service is wonderful, so wonderful that my husband tipped our waiter twenty dollars for a fifty dollar tab, and he's a pinch penny. The setting is phenomenal, and you can either walk in or make reservations by calling 270-763-0656.
My next favorite place to eat is called Ginza's Hibachi and Sushi located in Elizabethtown at 1705 N Dixie Hwy, in the little strip mall by K-mart. Ginza's is a very close second to Fergies. The setting was wonderful. As soon as My family walked into Ginza's we felt welcome. We choose to eat Hibachi ( which is were the Chef cooks your choice of foods right in front of you.) I have to tell you, I have only eaten at three hibachi houses, and this one had the most wonderful display of culinary and food acrobatic arts. Not only was it entertaining to eat at Ginza's but the food was delicious, and the staff was superb. My two year old son got a free meal of scrambled eggs, soup, egg-fried rice, and on top of that he got chocolates offered as a dessert. Our chef was amazing. He flipped eggs in the shell with such ease and skill, rotating it from the top of the spatula to the bottom, throwing it at my son and catching it at the last second,(which Aiden found highly amusing of course) I haven't had the sushi, but the couple that was sitting at our table/grill with us did, and I have to tell you, it looked amazing, fresh, and delectable. I ordered the steak and salmon dinner, which came with a soup, egg-fried rice, a salad with a scrumptious dressing that I am still drooling over anytime I think of it, and of course the main dish. The steak was tantalizing, cooked to perfection, the fat, what was on it, which I usually cut off, melted in your mouth, and the salmon, though not fresh considering where we live, was still pleasing. Both the steak and salmon was juicy, and prepared by a master. The chicken that my husband ordered was just as wonderful. There is no doubt in my mind that we are going back, and next time, I am going to be more daring and order the swordfish, along with a sushi platter. Our tab was a little bit higher than Fergies, but as I said before the food was excellent, as was the service, and it was highly entertaining. We paid around fifty dollars for a four course meal. If you do decide to go to Ginza's make sure you don't wear to much hairspray, due to the fact that they lite the grill directly in front of you, and believe me, I thought I was going to come away with a scorched face. My third favorite place to eat is easier on the wallet, and is located in Radcliff at 601 N Dixie Blvd, called Asian buffet. The food is usually the same every time I go, but for around eight dollars on weekdays, and eleven dollars on weekends per person, you get your choice of good food. My favorite food at Asian Buffet is the coconut shrimp, but they offer tons of other foods as well. They have General Tsoas' chicken, sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup, fried won tons, crab ran goon, egg rolls, seafood salad, pepper chicken, garlic sauteed green beans, and many other dishes. They also boast sushi. To contact Asian Buffet call 270-351-6888
For the faster food types, there is Fazoli's Italian Restaurant located in Elizabethtown in front of the Towne Mall at 1702 N Dixie Hwy. My husband is a fiend for Italian food, and loves going to Fazoli's because of the quick service. The food is good, and very filling. What you would expect from a fast food Italian restaurant. We haven't gone through the drive-thru, we always go in and sit down. The average price for my husband and I to order is between sixteen and twenty dollars, depending on whether my hubby wants a side of pizza. The free bread sticks are alright, a little garlicky, which is saying something considering I put garlic in nearly everything that I cook. I enjoy their penne chicken bake, mmmmmm. I can only eat about half of it, but the sauce is rich and delicious, the chicken is juicy, and the broccoli is excellent. To contact Fazoli's call 270-737-2993
That is it for my favorite restaurants in the Fort Knox community. I hope that you enjoy your meals, and have fun.
