Take a ride or walk on the Boise Greenbelt - The Boise Greenbelt can be one of the earliest places to see Fall colors each year. Running right along the Boise River, the temperatures along the Greenbelt dip down lower than most other places in the city. This results in the leaves of the trees along the Greenbelt changing color earlier than most others across Boise. Tree lined sections of the Boise Greenbelt are often breezy as well, and this sometimes creates a really enjoyable sprinkling of Fall leaves gently floating through the air.
Stroll the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center Stream Walk -An excellent place to enjoy Boise's Fall foliage is the Morrison Knudsen Nature Center, located along the Boise Greenbelt (and also accessible via Walnut Avenue or Municipal Park). The nature center has a wonderful "stream walk", which features a pond, several fish viewing windows, a small brook, and a few bridges. All of these elements are nestled among hundreds of plants and trees, most of which change colors in the Fall. Don't forget to bring your camera! This is a great place to take some photos of the people in your life, as the Fall colors provide a beautiful natural background.
For fun in the Fall leaves, visit older Boise parks - If you are looking for the perfect place for your kids to play in Fall leaves, visit one of Boise's older parks. Several of the oldest parks in Boise are filled with giant trees, most of which drop all of their leaves in the Fall. You'll find more than enough leaves for building giant piles to jump in at places like Julia Davis Park, Municipal Park, and Ann Morrison Park.
If it's too cold out to walk or play, just go for a drive - When it comes to enjoying the Fall foliage in Boise, Idaho, even a simple drive through the city can be really nice. The older parts of the city, such as those found off of Warm Springs Avenue, are often full of tree lined streets that display their brilliant colors in the Fall. Run through the drive-thru at Starbuck's for a hot chocolate first, pop your favorite CD into the stereo, and you've got everything you need for a relaxing drive through Boise and its Fall colors.
