To a parent, finding out that there child has Autism is extremely devastating. The feel so let down because the child is not capable of fulfilling the hopes and dreams that the parent had envisioned for them. On top of this severe disappointment and let down, these parents feel alone. They are overwhelmed with confusion and do not know where to turn for good information. If you are one of these parents and find yourself in this situation, there are a number of wonderful organizations that parents can go to in order to find resources for their Autistic children that will serve as a guide through this tough journey, as well as give you the reassurance that you need during these difficult times.

The first organization that parents can go to in order to obtain resources for their Autistic child is the Autism Society of America. This is a national organization that will refer parents to a number of different resources in their locality, such as physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, career services, support for the family and carers, as well as services that are designed to provide support for the Autistic individual, which will improve the quality of life. Feel free to ask them as many questions as you'd like. They will do what it takes to ease your mind and put you in touch with what is right for your situation.

Another good place where parents can go to get resources for their children with Autism is the Autism Resources website. This is an international organization, so it will put parents in touch with organizations that are specific to their country. Parents who visit the website will be pleased to find that it is not at all troublesome to navigate. All they have to do is look for their country, and all of the organizations that they need will be listed, along with the necessary contact information to get in touch with the ones they choose. You'll absolutely love this site, as it will show you what all of your options are.

Then, there is the autism Speaks organization. This one is controversial in the Autism community; however, it does not hurt to use their website or talk to their representatives to find valuable information and resources for your child. They can no doubt put you in touch with organizations and give you much needed information that will improve your circumstances and give you some answers.

It can be terrifying when you first find out that your child has Autism. However, when you have a great deal of resources under your belt, you feel more empowered and feel like you are able to handle things much better. You don't have to do it alone.
