Great Restaurants and Places to Eat in Savannah Georgia

Maria
Some of the best places to eat in Savannah, GA aren't that expensive. Savannah has a moderately large student population because of the Savannah College of Art and Design and so a lot of restaurants cater to the cash strapped college students. This can benefit your budget if you're visiting Savannah either on business or vacation.

Sakura
Located at 116 E. Broughton Street, Sakura is a small Japanese restaurant. They are one of the cheapest places to eat in all of Savannah. They give you twice as much food as a normal person could possibly eat in one sitting. They have really good food and everyone seems to like their Sesame Chicken best. Their sushi is also pretty good and pretty cheap. You can buy a California Roll for $1.95. Also, if you come at an opportune time, they may give you a free appetizer. We've had that happen more than once, and we were never sure why they gave it to us, they just did.

The restaurant itself is a moderate size and the seating is primarily in booths. It's often packed at the height of lunch and dinner, but there's usually not a long wait. They also offer carryout, if you'd rather not wait or don't want to eat there. They also serve alcohol, including beer, wine and saké, and are open pretty late, until 11pm usually. They also have a lunch special that runs from 11:30 to 3pm Monday thru Friday. They open at 11am though, so if you would like their lunch special, be careful and wait until 11:30 to get there.

Loco's
Located down the street from Sakura's, Loco's is located in an old building that must have been a department store at one time. Their address is 301 W. Broughton Street and they are on the corner of Jefferson Street. They have a wide variety of food, ranging from Mexican to hamburgers. All of it is fairly inexpensive and all of it is tasty as well. They also have a bar that serves alcohol and a pool table upstairs. I think that they have a great atmosphere along with great service. They are typically open pretty late.

Vinnie van Go-Go's

Situated on the northwest corner of City Market, at 317 West Bryan Street, Vinnie's has great pizza and cold beer. It's not your run-of-the-mill pizza place either. On Friday and Saturday night it's especially packed full of SCAD students, and so you might want to avoid it at those times, unless you enjoy crowds. It has a really super small dining area, and every time we've gone there, it's so packed we always just got our pizza to go. The fact that it's always so packed is a testament to how good their food is.

Coop's Classic Grill
If you're looking for a really tasty burger for not much money, Coop's is definitely the place to go. They are located at 17 West Broughton Street and are in a historic building dating to the early part of the twentieth century. It's a pretty snazzy place, they have surf boards hanging on the wall and the overall theme is a beach theme. The booths are big and would easily sit six people, which is a good thing, although the dining area is fairly small. There are a few tables outside on which you can eat, or you can get your food to go. I have only eaten there at lunch and I don't think that they are open very late like the other places on this list.

Parker's Market
Located at 222 Drayton Street, this is a major college mecca in the middle of the night, especially during finals. They are open twenty four hours a day pretty much all year long. They are a convenience store but with a deli which serves up fresh and good food. Their sausage, egg and cheese croissants are the best ever and are about as expensive as an equivalent biscuit at McDonalds, but a whole lot better, both for your health and taste-wise. They usually have their breakfast products out at about four or five in the morning. This is strictly to-go only, as there aren't any tables at which to eat in.

Jalapeños
It's a little out of the way if you were planning on sticking to downtown, but Jalapeños has some of the best TexMex outside of southern Texas. It's located at 8840 Abercorn Street, just past the Oglethorpe Mall. Their service is excellent and the food is really good while not costing an arm and a leg. Everything I've gotten there has been great. They have lunch specials, most of which are under six dollars. They also bring you all the tortilla chips and sauce that you can eat. They don't serve breakfast, but are open for lunch and dinner.

So, if you're ever in Savannah, Georgia and are looking for a place to chow down, you ought to keep these fantastic places in mind. They'll fill your stomach up without emptying your wallet.
