Great Scott! Back to the Future is the Greatest Classic 80's Movie

Kristy Martz
Back to the Future is arguably the funniest movie of the 80's. After all, what movie starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd wouldn't be hilarious?

Michael J. Fox stars as Marty McFly, a average teenager whose family isn't exactly ideal. His parents, Lorraine and George (Lea Thompson and Crispin Glover) are anything but exciting.

Marty is friends with a "mad genius", Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) who has been missing all week. Marty finds out why when Doc unveils his newest invention.

Doc Brown inadvertently gives Marty an opportunity to change his family's fortune... by sending him to 1955!

Marty accidentally travels back in time using Doc's time machine made from a DeLorean outfitted with a flux capacitor.

In the past, Marty meets both of his parents and puts his own existence in peril when he gets in the way of his parents' first meeting.

Marty must convince the Doc Brown of 1955 to help him get Back to the Future. Doc Brown and Marty finally figure out a way to get Marty back to his proper time. However, Marty's prom date with his own mother causes delays.

Marty is finally able to return to his own time only to find his family's situation is drastically different. In the end, the experience has given Marty greater insight into his family and helped him to mature.

From Christopher Lloyds over-the-top antics to Michael J. Fox's comedic performance this movie doesn't stop. The punch lines are perfectly delivered. Seeing 1950's America through the eyes of a 1980's teenager brings on the laughs.

Back to the Future was so popular, it even spawned two hilarious sequels that continue the time traveling adventures of Doc Brown and Marty McFly.

I've seen Back to the Future dozens of times and I love it every time I see it. It is one of the most original comedies in any decade.

The 80's were a hot bed for great flicks. I wonder if any of you remember the one I wrote about here:

Tamara - haha Yeah, well, I was pretty young. :) I watched it a lot as a teenager though. We lived in this tiny town and would rent $1 movies at the gas station. All they had were decade old flicks. I learned to really love 80's movies.

I love these movies - but sweetie, are you even old enough to remember when they came out?? lol! jk - we introduced them to our kids not long ago and they adored them - and they were impressed when hubby and I told one or both of us saw them all at the movies!

Yes, Marty McFly DOES rule! :-) As far as "classic 80's" goes, you can't get much more 80's that Back to the Future. Bill and Ted's comes close though for pure 80's goofiness.
