If your office is like most - you are probably doing a "Secret Santa" this holiday season. A Secret Santa is where you wind up with someone's name and you need to purchase them a gift, instead of purchasing gifts for everyone in the group. This is a great way to save money, especially with a large group like an office. Usually an office places a dollar amount - something like twenty or even thirty dollars as the highest amount you should spend.

All of this sounds great - but it can be challenging, especially if you pull the name of someone you do not know very well. What should you get them? Well here are some ideas for great Secret Santa gifts that will appeal to lots of people. You can probably select one of these gifts for a Secret Santa and have a real hit on your hands!

The number one gift to give is a gift card. Gift cards are easy, they are convenient. Most importantly, they allow the recipient to do the actual shopping. This is key when you get someone whose taste you do not know very well. This will certainly keep many people happy. A safe bet is to select a "big box" store with a large selection, choose a store such as Target, Macy's, Sears or even Home Depot. Or you can get a gift card for movie rentals, something that most of us do - even though our taste in movies may be completely different. Other great hits are for Starbucks gift cards, many people like those. They can get coffee drinks daily or they can get beans to make drinks at home. Either way they are a real crowd pleaser.

Manicure and pedicure gift certificate. If you have selected a woman's name, they will probably enjoy this treat. There is probably a nail salon close to work where the women like to go, and you can get a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure. This is a wonderful, relaxing treat.

Popular bestseller. Another great choice is to pick up one of the latest bestsellers, either in hardcover, paperback, or try getting an audio book. The benefit of an audio book is that you can listen to it while you commute - it can be a very entertaining way to enjoy your commute, and they can get very addictive once you start using them! Check out The New York Times bestseller list or ask the bookstore clerk for some recommendations.

Gourmet coffee and a travel mug. Who among us functions well without coffee? Few of us start the morning without coffee. There are so many coffee places at this point. This is a great gift idea that is sure to please many. Select a pound (or two) of gourmet coffee beans (get them ground, most people don't have coffee grinders) and buy a travel mug so someone can enjoy the coffee on their commute. This is a great gift that they will enjoy well into January with thanks to you.

Calendar. At the end of the year, we all are going to need a calendar. This is a great gift. Select one that has stunning photographs of an exotic location or artwork. There are so many types of calendars out there. You can also look for a desk calendar, there are some great ones, such as the very popular word-a-day calendar, but there is even an origami calendar and some other unique calendars to select from.

Gourmet food or sweets. You can find all different types of gourmet food, snacks and treats that are sure to please lots of different people. Put together a basket of several different types of treats for the person to enjoy. Or purchase them some type of sampler so they can try lots of different flavors of one type of food. With the holidays coming up, this is something that many people will enjoy because many people are planning parties and they are looking for things to serve at parties and for special occasions.
