Great Sites for Your Cell Phone's Mobile Browser

Ryan Mooney
When surfing the Web from your phone the experience is, let's just say, less than perfect. I use my device often when I need to fend off boredom or to just get some crucial and timely information. With the mobile Web still in the early stages of its 'life', sites that you normally visit (on a PC) are unrecognizable on the mobile browser. Until the mobile Web reaches maturity, I recommend checking out and bookmarking the sites below for an improved mobile Web experience:

1. Google

THE search engine when looking for info on the Web. Google has implemented a terrific mobile browsing experience to bring you the search results you need and want nearly as fast as using a desktop. With quick load times, top news headlines, and joint access to your personal e-mail, Google is leading the charge in mobile Web browsing.

2. MySpace

Let's face it, social networking sites like MySpace are going to be around for a while. You might as well use join the club and use the site to your advantage. Besides, don't you want to see the type of pics your seemingly reserved co-workers post of themselves? The MySpace mobile site does a great job of displaying and providing intuitive links to everything you need to stay connected with all '731 of your friends'.

3. Perezhilton.com

The self-titled 'Queen of all Media' has hit the ground running for gossip on the go. This is our guilty pleasure on the mobile Web. Even though we might balk at some of his cruel comments, we can't help our impulsive return to see the latest dish and diss. Slow load time frequently plague the site, but if you have time to waste, it is worth it. I'm sure Perez will join the revolution and optimize his site for all phone browsers in the near future.

4. ESPN.com

The one-stop mobile site to stay on top of all your sports scores and fantasy football needs. Completely optimized for phone browsers, this site loads quickly, displays great, and allows access to the full features of a normal Web experience.

5. IMDB.com

What happens when you're at the bar or restaurant and someone says "Oh, what was the name of that 80s movie with Michael J. Fox' and no one has the answer? Time was everyone stewed and then became annoyed because there was no answer. Now your problem is solved. You'll have complete access to all film and TV trivia in this massive online media database. People will look to you for answers and be awed with your fancy mobile technology. Downfall: depending on your browser, there are some display issues.
