Great Stocking Stuffers for Teen Boys

ED Watts
Even if your child is getting older and past the Santa age, you still want him to have a great, memorable Christmas. Part of this is giving him a great stocking stuffed with all sorts of things he will enjoy. If you're having a hard time figuring out what you want to put in the stocking, try some of these tips for inexpensive stocking stuffers for teen boys.

• It's getting colder out, so buy him a new hat. You can find a variety of warm cable knit hats at Target for under $10. These are fashionable and will keep your son's head and ears nice and toasty.

• Put a gift card in your son's stocking. You can buy gift cards in $5 increments at Blockbuster and Starbucks and your son will enjoy getting to treat himself to a movie or iced coffee.

• If your son likes comic books, then head to a comic book store and buy him a couple older issues of his favorite comic. These are usually marked down to $1 apiece. Roll it slightly to fit in the stocking and be careful that you don't bend the book.

• You can buy handheld video games at Wal-Mart for between $5 and $10. Try Hangman or a sports game. These are inexpensive and fun to play with when hanging out around the house or waiting to be called for a doctor's appointment.

• No stocking is complete with your teen's favorite goodies. If he's a fan of Snickers bars, then buy a pack of mini Snickers to put in his stocking. If he typically prefers Mom's cookies, then bake a batch and wrap some in plastic wrap to put in the stocking. Whether you buy candy or just the ingredients to bake, you shouldn't spend over $5.

• Your teen no doubt has a lot of schoolwork to do - papers to write and projects to work on - so buy him a thumb drive. These have gotten really cheap lately and you can buy a thumb drive with 2 GB of space for $8.

• If your teen son is the outdoorsy type, consider buying him a Swiss knife. You can buy one for $9 online at Amazon.

• Make your son a little coupon book that gives him a pass on his chores for a given day. All it requires is a little time and paper. He'll be thrilled to have a pass on his chores, but make sure to specify on the pass that he can only redeem one per week if you don't want to be stuck doing his chores for two entire weeks.
