The Sertoma Club is throwing its July 4th Independence Day Celebration again this year in Old Seville, Pensacola, FL. It's a rip-roaring event that lasts most of the day, from 11 a.m. to the end of the fireworks at 9 p.m. There's also a great patriotic parade for the old-timers who love them. It's a great way for families to wander around, eat great food and listen to some fabulous bands. But everyone really waits for the grand finale, the impressive fireworks after night falls. Did I forget to mention that this event is free? Every family should come out to this stirring display on our nation's birthday! The Gulf is a perfect venue for this since there are no real obstructions-only the stars and the wide Gulf vista. The full schedule is not up yet but I'd advise calling the Pensacola Chamber of Commerce to see when their schedule will be up: (850) 438-4081. This is the largest July 4th celebration on the Gulf Coast-not to be missed!
Anyone who hasn't seen the famous Blue Angel Flyers is in for a treat on July 21, in Pensacola. Since it was formed in 1946, this elite naval team of precision flyers has performed for over 427 million people world-wide. This incredible airmen put on one of the city's biggest events. Admission is free and it's handicap-accessible. This is something that young kids will absolutely love, so all families who can make it should go. There will be food, fun and lots of good fellowship here. Contact the show producers for details on the event at 850-434-1234.

This year Pensacola is going to hold a Fiesta Krewe of Lafayette Parade with floats, pirates, clowns and all sorts of colorful characters rolling down Palafox Street in Pensacola. Families with kids will get a thrill from this fun-filled day of floats and brightly costumed characters in Mardi-Gras style. The next day, June 2nd, will feature the Fiesta Boat Parade, so the weekend should be lots of fun for everyone involved and it's all free. Call (850) 433-6512 to ask more about this and other events the first week in June put on by the Fiesta of Five Flags group.
