Great Tasting Chicken and Bowtie Soup

Remember the great tasting homemade chicken and noodle soup that your Mother or Grandmother used to make? I remember it the most when I was sick and had a terrible cold. My mother used to make it and I thought it was the greatest medicine anyone could have gave me. I know that it may not have took the cold away but it did help me with the chills and the salty taste help sooth the sore thought.

I'm not sure about you but with three kids and a very demanding life I just don't have the time to make the kind of homemade chicken noodle soup that my mom use to make. With a little experimenting I have found a way to make quick and easy chicken noodle soup that my kids just love. I make this soup in the crock pot and it is ready for supper without any hassle.

The amount of ingredients that you use will depend on the amount of chicken and bowtie soup that you want to make. I first slice up two large boneless skinless chicken breast into small pieces about the size of a quarter. You can boil the chicken and use just its juice or you can add chicken broth. I use chicken broth since it adds a great flavor. Next slice up and add to the chicken broth a few fresh carrots and celery. If you really want to you can add frozen carrots instead of cutting up fresh carrots. Next add the amount of bowtie pasta that you think you will need for your chicken and bowtie soup.

Place all your items in a slow cooker and stir together. As you are adding items make sure there is a few cups extra chicken broth since your bowties will swell up. If you do not have enough chicken broth the noodles will swell up and dry out.

Stir and cook the ingredients in the crock pot for a few hours. You will know when the soup is done, the bowties will soften and so will the carrots and celery. If you start making supper with out a large amount of time for it to cook in a crock pot, than you probably want to cook this soup on the stove top. Just start to boil the chicken broth, add the chicken and vegetables. Let boil until the vegetable are barely tender than add the bowtie pasta noodles. Boil the pasta until they are tender. Once they are tender remove from the heat and let cool for a few minutes and serve.

I am not really sure what it is about the bowtie pasta noodles but my kids just love this soup with them. I could make the same kind of soup and add noodles but my kids seem to eat less of it. So I always make mine with the bowties. I hope you try this recipe for chicken bowtie soup and find it as easy to make as I do. I am sure your kids will love it as much.
