Great Tasting Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Clif Energy Bar

Susan Slade
Walking around Walgreens drugstore, I saw that they had energy bars reduced down from $1.99, $1.49, to 99 cents. I do enjoy these, and some are better than others. Yes, I have had the cardboard bland type, but also enjoyed a double chocolate one.

Out of at least 20 options I decided on the Clif Bar Oatmeal Raisin Walnut. I have oatmeal with raisins for breakfast, at least twice a week, and love oatmeal raisin cookies.

The packaging looks much bigger than many other energy bars, so when I checked it out, it has a net weight of 2.4 ounces (68 g). It states on the front of the bar that it is 'Made with organic oats & soybeans'.

So we ate at an all you can eat place at lunchtime. It is now 7.00 p.m., and I feel that I need something to eat, but checked the fridge, and the cupboards, and couldn't come up with a light meal. I didn't want a lot of calories, but something that would fill me up. I remembered the Clif Energy Bar.

It has a tear line at the top, so I pulled it down, and took out the bar. It looks disgusting. It is a brown lump with 'bits in it'. If I had a dog, it probably could have produced something similar. The size is approximately three and a quarter inches x two inches x half an inch.

I didn't think about the look of the product, and bit into it. I had lots of oats, and a raisin, in the first bite. It tasted good. I then had a couple of more bites, and again had oats, a raisin, and one bite had a small piece of walnut.

I have to say that I really love the taste of the bar. It is crunchy, has a good texture, and made me want more. I had eaten half of the bar, and needed a drink of water.

The middle of the bar seemed to have less raisins in it, but several small pieces of walnut. I finished the bar in no time at all.

This bar really filled me up, and I knew that I was good for the rest of the evening, and night. Often I prefer to have an energy bar, rather than making a lunch/snack/or even breakfast, because I know exactly how many calories I have eaten, and what is in them.

To me this is a well balanced bar, and goes great with my lifestyle. I can eat one on the go, while I am on my computer, or when I am out. I can be really hungry, and this satisfies me completely. It also keeps me full for several hours.

We have so many people holding up boards, and asking for help right now with the economy being so bad. I really don't like giving them money, but a Clif Energy bar, and a bottle of water, wouldn't cost me much more than a $1 donation, and I could really feel good about it.

I will be heading back to Walgreens drugstore to purchase some more at 99 cents. For a complete meal for me, I think that they are a real bargain, and a tasty one too.
