Great Tear Jerker Movies for a Rainy Day

Titanic. So it's a given that this movie will bring just about anyone to tears, but I love to watch this movie over and over! To see how a romance between the two characters develops so quickly. It's fate. It's also nice to see just how historically correct some of the accounts are and how beautifully they made the set to mirror the original Titanic. It's a long movie, so make sure that you have plenty of time to sit and really enjoy this amazing film!
Fried Green Tomatoes. TOWANDA! This movie made me laugh and cry! To see how this old woman and young woman become the best of friends in a chance meeting, then to have the older woman tell a great story of the past. I love how this movie depicts and era of wealth and poverty. Slavery and compassion. The trials and tribulations of the young women in the story are phenomenal and the story is totally heart warming!
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. This movie moved me to tears. I love the innocence of children. They don't care about color or race. They just see the person, and in this movie, that is the lesson. A young boy of a soldier moves near a Nazi concentration camp. One day, the boy ventures out of the walls of his family compound against his parents' wishes and comes upon the camp. He sees a little boy sitting there and they become the best of friends. This movie is not for children. Please make sure they are not around when you watch.
Steel Magnolias. Who could deny this movie? It's the story of a group of quirky southern belles! There are laughs and tears and heart warming moments. It shows the power of friendship and forgiveness. You follow the story line of Julia Roberts' character from her wedding and through her battle with diabetes. You also fall in love with the funny ladies that surround her life! Pick this copy up with a box of Kleenex!
Step-mom. As so many families struggle with illness, divorce, etc, this movie hits many of those points. Mom and dad are divorced and dad has a young woman that he's involved with. It goes through how the kids aren't fond of dad's girl friend, and how their mother is struggling with illness. The thing I love about this movie is that it shows how if you just put forth a little bit of effort, everyone can get along.
I hope you love these movies as much as I do! Feel free to let me know of some other must see tear jerkers!
Ghost. Oh, this movie. I bawl my eyes out every time I watch this movie! Sure, it's kinda cheesy, but when Demi Moore's huge tears slide out of her eyes when she realizes her dead boy friend's ghost is there, that does it for me. Those huge tears made her career! I love Whoopie Goldberg's character in this movie as the psychic medium who didn't realize she even possessed the power to talk to spirits! In life and in death, the power of love and the emotions of grief are shown throughout this flick!
