Great Theme Halloween Costumes for Siblings

Halloween is such a fun celebration. It is the time of year where people of all ages bring out their creative side and sport home made and store bought costumes. Children in particular can be pretty picky when deciding what they want to wear as there are so many costumes to choose from. If you are parents of children that are close in age then Halloween costume shopping may be a bit easier. It's always easier to shop for costumes in pairs. There are so many themed costumes for siblings to choose from and I have included some of them below.

1. Thing 1 and Thing 2- If your familiar with Dr. Seuss then you'd know a thing or two about Thing 1and Thing 2. Thing 1 and Thing 2 are from Dr. Seuss' children's books. They are mentioned in The Cat in the Hat book as two creatures that help to entertain two lonely children stuck in the house on a rainy day. Dressing up as Thing 1 and 2 will make a great costume idea for siblings. You may be ale to find these costumes on an online store. If you cannot find the costumes in stores you can make them yourself. The costume is relatively easy to make and does not require many supplies. A quick search on how to make Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes will pull up a myriad of results as these costumes seem to be popular amongst parents of young children.

2. 3 Little Kittens- We all know about those naughty kittens that can't seem to hold on to their mittens or keep them clean. Having your little ones dress up as the three little kittens will make for adorable costumes. This costume idea is great for triplets and mom can join in on the costume fun by dressing up as mama kitten. The costumes can be created by purchasing kitty ears and a tail. You can also have your children dress in white gowns (made out of sheets) to resemble the classic setting in the Tom Kitten stories written by Beatrix Potter.

3. Snow Miser and Heat Miser will make terrific costumes for Halloween. Snow Miser and Heat Miser are characters from the 1974 film The Year Without a Santa Claus and so may not be recognized by young children. This is a great costume for rivaling siblings. In the story, Snow Miser and Heat Miser are brothers and arch enemies. Christmas is near and one brother wants heat and sun all year round while the other wants cold and snow. Their feud makes it hard for Santa to make his normal rounds on Christmas Eve leaving Mrs. Claus to find a way to make the two reconcile and save Christmas. It is really a great movie featuring catchy songs and great stop motion animation. If your children are unfamiliar with these characters consider renting the moving, popping some popcorn and watching it with them.

You will most likely not find these costumes in stores so you will have to get a little creative and make them yourself. It does not take much to create these costumes you just need to focus on the themes; snow and heat. The hair will really set the two apart so make sure you get a decent wig or make wonders with their real hair.

4. Minnie and Mickey Mouse- this is a classic costume that will garner your children many looks. This is a great costume for younger children. Yes Minnie and Mickey are love birds but their relationship can be bent a little for the sake of Halloween. Your children can wear the Minnie and Mickey costume as brother and sister. Minnie and Mickey mouse costumes are sold in many online stores.

5. Max and Ruby- Max and Ruby is a delightful show on Nick Jr. for young children that's based off the books written by Rosemary Wells. Max and Ruby are rabbits and are brother and sister. Max is the younger brother and Ruby is the older sister and they have a loving relationship. Max and Ruby costumes can be found online.

6. 3 Little Pigs- it'll be fun to bring this classic tale to life. Not too many children are pigs for Halloween so your little ones will be sure to stand out. Clicket.com sells three little pigs suits as well as an adult wolf suit so that mom or dad can join in on the Halloween fun. Fairytalescostume.com is another great site that sells Three Little Pigs costumes.

7. Kai Lan- Ni Hao Kai Lan is a show featured on Nick Jr. and centers around a little six year old named Kai Lan. She goes on daily adventures with her friends and together they learn important lessons such as communicating, expressing feelings, and using manners. In the show, Rintoo(a tiger), HoHo( a Monkey,) and Tolee (a Koala) are all characters in the show so your children can pick to be either one of these characters. These costumes are popular amongst some children. The Kai Lan costume can be easily found online but her friends, Rintoo, Tolee and Hoho are not that easy to find online. 8. Dora and Boots are extremely popular. Dora the Explorer and her side kick Boots will be fun to recreate for Halloween. Since Dora the Explorer is very popular, finding costumes is not that much of a hassle. You won't have much luck going into stores looking for a Dora or Boots costume, so your best bet is to go online and search for the costumes. If you cannot find a Boots costume don't worry because you can easily make one at home by purchasing a monkey costume and some red rubber rain boots.
