Great Things to Do with Your Family and Friends This Thanksgiving
Top 5 Thanksgiving Activities that Are Fun for All
1- Go to the movies. While this may not sound like your ideal getaway, it really can be a great experience to take off for the movie theatre with your crew (family or friends). There are several great movies out in theatres this Thanksgiving including New Moon, The Blind Side, and Ninja Assassin. Going to the movies is a great way to kill some time and it will give you something to talk about with the people you are spending this holiday with.
2- Take a hike, literally. If you are around the mountains, this is a beautiful time of year to go hiking with your family and friends. Pack your lunch, throw on your tennis shoes and start climbing. The view from the top of the mountain will be well worth it. If you aren't in the mountains, however, you can still go for a walk with your loved ones. This is a great time to enjoy nature and talk about all of the things you are thankful for. It definitely helps you put into perspective how beautiful the world is, and how much we have to appreciate, whether we feel thankful or not.
3- Have a Thanksgiving meal. You don't have to be part of a huge family in order to have a nice Thanksgiving meal. Gather a few close friends, or go knock on your neighbor's door and offer to cook something. Thanksgiving is a time to share with others and to be thankful for what you have. You never know what good food you will get out of it either!
4- This is the most obvious thing that you should do with your family and friends at Thanksgiving: stand in a circle holding hands, or either just sit in the room together and let everyone go around and say what they are thankful for. You may think it sounds dumb, or think you're too cool to sit with your friends and talk about that, but it really will be enlightening and put you in a great mood.
5- My favorite thing to do over this holiday season is go to the Black Friday sales with my family the day after Thanksgiving. Every year I get up at around 4 am to hit the sales with my Mom, Aunts, and Grandma. I know it sounds like a hassle, and many people don't enjoy fighting the crowds, however this is always a great bonding experience for us and we come home with many interesting stories and gifts. Though it may not seem worth it when you are rolling out of bed, by the end of the day you will be glad you decided to partake in this wonderful pastime.
