Travel in general has been increasing slightly since late 2009, and the destinations are trending towards more unique and exotic places. People are getting the most for their money however, by seeking out the lesser expensive, off the beaten path type of places.
The South Pacific Islands are hot right now, with Tahiti topping the list. The beautiful black beaches, lush tropical jungles and amazing surf are an excellent backdrop for a hiking and sight seeing. Prices are reasonable for travel here this year, making it a good alternative to the staycation.
Europe is hot as well, but instead of heading for London, travelers are booking trips to Prague or the Baltics, smaller cities that are full of charm and great places to see. One of the nicer ways to see Europe is to try a river cruise. Cruise the Danube and they will drop you at port for hiking, sightseeing and cycling. The ships, although smaller than traditional cruise ships, still offer all the amenities.
Costa Rica is always a popular travel destination. Active volcanoes, beautiful beaches, a laid back atmosphere, and eco friendly adventures all await the vacation hungry.
Check with your tour provider or travel agent to find out if they are offering the newest trend in vacations, the focus trip. Your vacation can center on dining, wine tasting, music, animals and more. This way, you are sure to do and see something you really enjoy and can learn from the experience as well.
