Valentine's Day Classroom Decorating
Set the theme by placing hearts around the room. By using large hearts you will need less. Use red, pink, and white construction paper. Children can practice their cutting at school or help cut them out during an inside recess when the weather is too cold to go out to play. You can also use a die cut machine to make the process go quicker.
A banner can also set a good mood for a party. You can print one at home or buy a premade banner. Again, a die cut machine can also help you make a great banner.
Streamers are another budget friendly way to decorate. Hang from the ceiling if possible. Create a streamer curtain in the doorway. Twist red and pink and white together to decorate the tables the kids sit at.
Valentine's Day Crafts
The crafts can be done on a very small budget by using Google to find printable craft projects. DLTK has many printable crafts for a wide variety of ages. Craft kits can also be purchased at such places as Oriental Trading Company or your local craft store.
Valentine's Day Party Games
Guess how many is always a good standby. The kids can do this while eating their snack or working on their crafts. One volunteer can carry the jar of candies (or other objects) around while the kids are doing something else.
To get the kids up and moving, try a game of Cupid Says instead of Simon Says.
Instead of Duck Duck Goose play Cupid Cupid Love.
Older kids will like a scavenger hunt in the room or even in the whole school.
Valentine's Day Treats
To make Valentine's Day heart cupcakes, make cake batter as directed on package. Fill a cupcake liner half full. Wrap a marble in aluminum foil and place the marble between the baking pan and the liner to make an indentation in the cupcake liner and form the shape of a heart. Bake according to package directions.
Cover juice boxes with paper that says Love Potion.
Heart shaped cookies or rice cereal treats.
