Great Value Naturally Sweetened Drink Mix Review

I was immediately hooked on the flavor of Crystal Light Pure. However, I was not hooked on the price. I decided to see if Walmart carried a version of the product. I had always been a big fan of the Great Value version of Crystal Light, so I had high hopes. Thankfully, I found that Walmart not only carried their own version of Crystal Light Pure, but it was much more affordable. I couldn't wait to try it and grabbed several different flavors. But, would they be as good as the Crystal Light brand?

Great Value Naturally Sweetened Drink Mix comes in several flavors including Raspberry Lemonade, Passion Fruit Peach Iced Tea, Mango Pineapple, Iced Tea With Lemon and a few others. The flavors all sounded so good, but I really wish I hadn't grabbed so many.

The first flavor I tried was Mango Pineapple and it was absolutely awful. It was way too sweet and had a medicine like after taste that made me want to gag. I decided not to let that stop me and tried the Passion Fruit Peach Iced Tea, but I encountered the exact same problem. It too was too sweet and had the medicine like after taste. I was about ready to give up, but decided to try the Raspberry Lemonade. While it was much better than the other two flavors, I still don't see myself buying it again.

Great Value Naturally Sweetened Drink Mix has 15 calories, 0 grams of fat, 0mg of cholesterol, 20mg of sodium, 4 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of sugar and 0 grams of protein. In other words, it has pretty much the same nutritional value as Crystal Light Pure.

The price for the Great Value brand was much more affordable. A box of seven packages cost $1.78. This is compared to the $3 price for the same amount of Crystal Light Pure. However, this is one of those cases that you get what you pay for.

I would have to give this product 2 out 5 stars. The after taste and intense sweetness of some of the flavors was just too overwhelming. If you decide to try this product, I recommend sticking with the tangy flavors, which seem not to be as overpowered as the others. As for me, I think I'll stick with the Crystal Light brand.
