Great Value Vegetarian Vegetable Soup Tastes Great
A Review and Comparison to Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable Soup
Condensed soups provide the best value and are a great staple to have on hand. In Michigan we are thinking about being snowed in the near future, not to mention potential house confinement due to N1H1. It seems like a good idea to have canned soup on hand. A recent sale prompted me to have both Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable Soup and Great Value Vegetating Vegetable soup in the house and to try them on consecutive days.
Nutritionally, Great Value and Campbell's Vegetarian Vegetable soups are quite similar. Both contain 90 Calories per serving with about 2.5 ½ cup servings per can. Each serving contains just .5 grams of fat and no saturated fat at all. How's that for a good diet food? Great Value Brand Vegetarian Vegetable soup has 19 grams of carbohydrates while Campbell's has only 18 Grams.
Great Value has some other slight nutritional differences compared to Campbell's that are worth noting. Diabetics should notice that Great Value Brand Vegetarian Vegetable soups contains on 4 grams of sugar per serving while Campbell's has 6 grams of sugar. Also in the nutrition area Great Value Brand Vegetarian Vegetable Soup has 740mg of sodium compared to Campbell's 790 mg. These slight nutritional benefits, combined with cost savings make Great Value Vegetarian Vegetable soup worth trying.
The taste of each soup is very similar. The Campbell's brand Vegetarian Vegetable Soup is slightly stronger in tomato taste while the Great Value Brand has a less acidic taste. I prefer the Great Value taste.
Until recently, Great Value brands did not have a pop top, an easy to lift tab to open the soup without a can opener. A few months ago I was pleased to find that they now have the easy open top, just like Campbell's. Not having to use a can opener is a big plus for both brands.
Less sugar, less sodium and a great taste in an easy open can at a better price than Campbell's (even when Campbell's is on sale) means that Great Value Brand Vegetarian Vegetable soup is definitely worth trying.
