Great Web Sites for Kids: Entertainment Sure to Hold Their Interest

Goodnatured
Keeping your children up with today's technology can be expensive. There is a large market out there that targets our need to try and make our children smarter. I bought our 4-year-old a computer game that connects to her television. The child has played it five times or so since Christmas. Last year I purchased the book console, which has several little books and tapes to plug into it. I probably have a total of $300 rapped up in these items, and the child has no more interest in them than watching water boil. Bottom line, kids get bored quick and need different things to stimulate their learning process. At least in our child that seems to be the case.

I found an alternative that offers variety and keeps up to date with the latest characters that our children has fallen in love with. These characters are shoved down their throats since birth. I found that every one of these has a web page with games, puzzles and learning activities. My four year old can mouse with the best of them. I print off the coloring sheets, the activities are great for learning and there is so much more interactive activities that will continue to spark the child's interest. The change is nice, the child does not get bored. Let's face it, children love discovery new things and these web pages are full of updates as they continue to develop their characters, the child benefits.

Some of the best sites that we have found and visit often is http://www.nickjr.com and http://www.highlightskids.com . Sit down and check them out with your kids, they are actually fun. I love some of the puzzles and can't let them go until I find all the hidden pictures. These are awesome sites that I would recommend for any age group.

I print off the activities and keep some in my desk at work, when clients come in with children, it is a great way to keep the kids occupied while the adults are dealing with whatever is on the table for that day.

I have also printed these off and used them as birthday party favors, put them in a bag with a few other items and you have saved yourself a few bucks and given the kids something they can actually put some time into.

I have had a really good response from all parents that I have shared this information with. It is quick and no matter what the child is into, the characters are there, so it is wonderful if you have a group of children with different ages or tastes. It is kind of a one page fits all concept. Enjoy!
