Great Wedding Advice to Listen To

The Best Wedding Advice I Got Before My Wedding.

Cassie Schmelz
Getting married can bring many things like joy, happiness, and even stress. Unfortunately, it also brings lots of advice, whether you want it or not. The minute people found out I was getting married, the wedding advice started pouring in. Here is some of the best wedding advice I received, some of which I wish I would have listened to a little better.

The first piece of wedding advice I'll recommend, I actually didn't listen to myself. When I was working on my wedding budget, a videographer just didn't fit in. A friend of mine told me that I could regret it if I didn't have a great video to reminisce with. At the time, I thought the money would better spent on things like flowers and a dress. Not hiring a videographer is probably the biggest regret I have about my wedding. The only recording I have of the big day comes from my husband's uncle's 1980 style camcorder from the balcony of the church.

Although videographers can be really pricey, it's possible to find a small company that won't break the bank. I have a friend who got an entire package for under $500 and has a wonderful DVD of her wedding, complete with guest well wishes, to show for it. She found a guy who was just getting his wedding video business started and he gave her a good price. Ask around and you may be able to find a videographer that fits into your budget.

The next piece of wedding advice is one that I actually listened to: take your time and have a long engagement. My husband and I were engaged for a year and a half and I'm glad we were. Planning a wedding can be stressful enough and only giving yourself 6 months to plan one is probably going to add to the stress. Also, if you're going to be together forever, what's the big rush? Give yourself plenty of time to plan the wedding you've always dreamed of.

My last piece of wedding advice is to stop and take the time to enjoy your wedding day. Your wedding day is busy and hectic, to say the least. It's easy to get caught up in worrying about every body else and not concentrate on having a good time yourself. Just be sure to stop and really soak it in a few times during your wedding day and you'll probably enjoy yourself more and remember it better later.

While all the wedding advice you'll no doubt receive can be overwhelming, some of it is probably worth while. Your friends and family are sharing their experiences because they want you to have the best wedding possible. So, when receiving wedding advice, just listen politely. You never know when you might hear that piece of wedding advice that you'll be passing on yourself someday.
