Great Winter Snacks You Can Make with Your Kids!

Something to Think About

Mrs. Renee

When it comes to winter time one of the best places to be is in the kitchen. Kids love to create new things, that they can eat. This article will give you a few snack suggestions that will help to make those cold winter afternoons indoors a lot more fun. All of these recipes are quick and easy.

1. Snow Cupcakes- First you will need the following ingredients: 1 Box of Muffin Mix, some white icing, small chunks of white chocolate, muffin tins. Once you have all of your ingredients you can follow the simple directions on the muffin box. Once the muffins are baked it's time to decorate. Let your child use a butter knife to spread the icing on the cupcakes. Then chop up the chocolate pieces and place on top of the muffins. Now your snow cookies are ready to eat.

2. The snowman lunch treat- you will need the following ingredients: a bag of marshmallows, white icing, small chocolate chips, a bag of pretzel sticks, black licorice, small ice cream cone molds, chocolate for mold. First you stack about three to five marshmallows together. The number of marshmallows various deepening on how bit you want your snowman. Use the pretzels to hold the snowman together, by placing them directly down the center of the marshmallows. Next use two pretzels for the arms on either side. Now you can use the chocolate chips as buttons down the belly of the snowman and as the eyes. You can also use the chocolate chips to form the snowman's mouth. If the chocolate chips are too big just cut them in half to shape the mouth. Use the licorice to tie around the snowman's neck. Now you can talk your chocolate molding candy and melt it down. They usually have directions on how to do this right on the bag. Once the chocolate is melted you can then pour directly into the miniature ice cream molds, and place them in the fridge. Once this is complete you will have all of your hats for your snowman. Now you have a complete edible snack!

3. Rice Crispy snowballs- These are very similar to the square rice crispy treats except that they are in the shape of balls instead of squares. Just purchase a box of rice crispy and follow the directions on the box, except instead of baking them square, use your hand to mash them into balls. An ice cream scoop also works well for this. Once they are finished you have your rice crispy snowballs.

4. Smore snow sandwich- This treat happens to be a classic that all kids love. You will need the following ingredients: A bag of marshmallows, chocolate squares, or miniature chocolate bars, graham crackers, and skewers. First melt the marshmallows, by placing them on the skewers and putting them over an open flame. Or if you have an electric stove you can just melt them slightly in the microwave, without the skewers. Once your marshmallows are melted you can them place them between to pieces of graham crackers and place the chocolate right on top of the melted marshmallow so that the chocolate will melt. Then all you have to do is eat.

these are very cute, but the problem is that they aren't healthy! and along with using all the sugar, kids will be very hyperactive.
